Arcade Foobar want to draw in new customers, and so generate a lookalike audience based on data they have from existing customers. The modelling algo then compares data points for people who 'look like' their customers, and those people can then be targeted with a high probability that they will also be interested in the same thing.
This is a perfectly plausible explanation that doesn't require FB to be listening to you through your phone mic.
This seems quite similar to what companies like GumGum are doing as well (in image adverts).

If they expanded this to general products (and in the UK) this could kill my usage of Flubit. I regularly get 10% or more off Amazon stuff through them, but their delivery is nowhere near as reliable.

You could use it for sending things like passwords. You may want to give someone access to something but not have it stored in chat or email records. If anyone else were to look up the link later, presumably it's no longer there as the recipient already clicked the link.
I think that's actually something worth clarifying about this service. Assuming that a link is created with a secret, but not accessed, how long is it stored for? Is it ever deleted otherwise?

Seems unbelievably reckless and dangerous to me, certainly here in the UK he'd be looking at 3 points at a minimum and worst case a prosecution for careless or dangerous driving.
The main difference for me would be that I'd consider an eBook to be something I can download (epub, mobi, pdf etc...) and read on my Kobo offline. Can't see how I could easily do that with the online HTML version.

I would say that reading for free online is different from offering a free eBook as the title indicates. 'Free online HTML book' would seem like a better description to me if that's the case.
I got a graduate position earlier this year in an ad-tech company, coming from 10 years in a completely unrelated industry and without a degree (I'm 33 and in the UK).
I worked through some Codecademy courses, developed my own site and blog and got to grips with things like Ad-Sense to get a feel for the ad-tech side of things. I pushed my self-taught achievements and motivation in my CV as well as my 10 years prior in a stable corporate environment.
I had to take a pay cut to get my foot in the door, but within 6 months I was picked for another team and was back up to my old salary. I'm now in tech support, but not IT specific (it's more APIs, datafeeds, SQL and site debugging). I get plenty of exposure to the underlying company tech and there are a lot of avenues for advancement in the future so I'm really happy I made the career jump.
It doesn't have to be most people, with the traffic levels that Google probably deal with, even a small percentage doing that could add up to a lot of 'lost' click revenue.
I think the reasoning would be that by putting your URL in the image, you are potentially encouraging people to enter it manually instead of clicking Google Shopping's link to the product.
I'm always fascinated by images from NK, bit of a shame in this case that the captions are plastered in the middle of them.

I unplugged my N5 this morning at around 07.00, it's now 16.30 and I'm on 80%. Did some web browsing on the train into work, have been messaging on and off all day. Lowest I've seen on a weekday for me was about 40% by the time I go to sleep.
Admittedly I tried some games on Sunday (Real Racing 3 and PvZ2) and the battery drained much faster, but the same happens on my ipad mini so it wasn't unexpected.
Am I missing something here? The author seems to be relying on an assumption rather than just Googling the same terms to see if any ads are shown. I tried that and didn't get a single ad either.
I think you could be clearer that 'Save' uploads the screenshot to your site, and does not (as I assumed) open a Save-as prompt.

Agreed, I have no motivation to create a new account just to see what they've done with it now. I used Delicious for many years, but they just seemed to completely lose direction. All I wanted was a simple bookmarking tool and Pinboard is perfect in that respect.

It looks like LoseProof relies on the goodwill of the person finding your stuff, in which case surely it's down to whether they'd rather fill in your form or hand it in to the Police.
