It's a shame what's happened to my local HVAC contractor. It used to be a great local operation where a real person picked up when you called. But lately, after a private equity group took over, it's all automated calls and foreign call centers. The personal touch is gone and, sadly, their service quality has taken a noticeable hit. It's just not the same anymore.

Yep. You're right. This is why I put a piece black electrical tape over the rear-facing camera in my Model Y.
That's a great way to put it. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but that's totally what is happening on IG. A lot of DTC brands have basically saturated my feed. I'm not sure how much longer this can continue without losing engagement. Anecdotally my own interest in IG has been waning the past year almost to the point of deletion.
Yes. There is a link in the email that leads you to the settings page but I hadn't logged in a while so after entering my phone number along with the code they sent me I also had to enter a code they sent to my email. My point being that clicking the link in the email should automatically turn off the "feature" I shouldn't have to log in.

Yup. This is exactly what I took it as. Between this and their other data sharing policies I decided to delete my account.
I got this email and it was not exactly easy to turn it off considering I hadn't logged in to my Airbnb account in a while. Perhaps a better solution would have been to provide a click within the email that would allow you to turn it off from there.
This is something I always worried about after buying my house in SoCal. When I purchased the house it came up in the closing disclosures that there was a "capped" oil well within 500 feet of our house. I search every where for it. Asked neighbors and everyone was clueless to it's where being. Needless to say I never found it but did have the air in our house checked for methane as well as radon which were at normal levels.
The LA basin had a lot wells especially in the South Bay [1]. I could totally see this being a problem especially since they were capped so long ago.

While I'm pretty frugal myself I do splurge on cars; currently own the Model 3. The reason being is that safety technology is always improving. So driving an '00 Civic with 220k will save you some cheddar it may cost you a severe injury or worse.
You cannot go wrong with most Herman Miller chairs. I originally started researching chairs because I have was having severe back pain. After several doctors appointments I found the cause, my old Ikea chair. I ended up going with the Mirra 2 and fell in love with it. It completely solved my back pain within two months. I own a BMW i3 and the Tesla Model 3. Both have cellular connections and are constantly pinging their motherships. At least on the Tesla I have the option of opting out. No such ability is available on the BMW.

This is exactly what I did. I have an IoT VLAN and I also limit the ports accessible to those devices. I just wish this setup was available to the average consumer that doesn't know how to do this.
Mainly use it for the forums so I could compare other deals in my area. The calculator is just an ancillary benefit.
Anecdata. I cancelled my reservation last month after it came apparent that it would be a while before they start manufacturing base model [1]. Ended up getting the BMW i3 and love it. After incentives it came out $217/month to lease[2].

It's funny that this is coming up now. The other day I was on the phone with Geico's roadside assistance and they wanted to know my location. I told them I didn't have their app downloaded, they said it wasn't a problem and they could get it without it. Sure enough they could. I checked their disclaimers [1] and they purchase the data from my cell carrier. They didn't even have to know which one.

I work for a company that is deeply rooted in the Energy sector in ND. The reason that rural areas in ND are getting access to fiber is because the oil/natural gas companies need it. Trust me it's not out of the kindest of their hearts. They have most of the Bakken shale covered. You can even tell that from the map.
I have the same sentiments. Currently live on the Westside of Los Angeles and the closest Target is pretty far away. Google Shopping has become clutch.
