6.3V is the standard voltage of a farm tractor battery --these vacuum tube heaters were designed to use them.
12.6V is two farm tractor batteries (one car battery), which is why our computer industry uses 12V for motherboards (12 volts - 0.6V reverse protection diode).
Early computer power supplies used voltage regulators that were designed for car radios, originally.
it’s not
as a late zoomer: this is obvious to everyone young and seemingly impossible for old people to see
This review describes investigations of specific topics that lie within the general subject of HSV1’s role in AD/dementia, published in the last couple of years. They include studies on the following: relationship of HSV1 to AD using neural stem cells; the apparent protective effects of treatment of HSV1 infection or of VZV infection with antivirals prior to the onset of dementia; the putative involvement of VZV in AD/dementia; the possible role of human herpes virus 6 (HHV6) in AD; the seemingly reduced risk of dementia after vaccination with diverse types of vaccine, and the association shown in some vaccine studies with reduced frequency of HSV1 reactivation; anti-HSV serum antibodies supporting the linkage of HSV1 in brain with AD in APOE-ε4 carriers, and the association between APOE and cognition, and association of APOE and infection with AD/dementia. The conclusions are that there is now overwhelming evidence for HSV1’s role—probably causal—in AD, when it is present in brain of APOE-ε4 carriers, and that further investigations should be made on possible prevention of the disease by vaccination, or by prolonged antiviral treatment of HSV1 infection in APOE-ε4 carriers, before disease onset.
Lead is exempt when used in ceramic capacitors
“plastic bubble”
people in the high falutin’ world are distant, weird isn’t it
how can people take action themselves here

natural resources are getting scarcer
omg
I like how gender is now considered a spectrum
The most important thing I have learned is to never approach a situation with preconceptions about the way you think things should be, and instead be absorbent of the moment so you collect the best possible data.
I was diagnosed with Asperger’s as a child. I have all the symptoms, including compulsive organizing of objects.
Relating to humans is very hard for me, so I built electronics instead and was making radios in first grade. Later I moved to Silicon Valley to start an electronics business, since it was where I knew I could fit in.
I think there is merit to this sentiment. In the technology industry, certain aspie traits, like attention to detail and systems thinking, are uniquely helpful.
But some traits are harmful. I invest a ton of energy into communication and empathy development as both of these things don’t come naturally to me. I know I’ve been set back in ways compared to my other peers, by being weak in these areas.
I love hydroelectric power and I want the circuits I design for solar to be capable of utilizing the raw power from a small turbine as well without any hardware modifications.
I worked for years studying how to use microcontrollers and after a lot of determination now I have a $750,000 grant to build solar systems that are fireproof so you can install them anywhere. It will be a few years of work to get something suitable made but I have full confidence it can be done.
I am also spending much time lately in the SF kink community to build a fundamental understanding of the biases people have experienced in life with respect to their gender identity, and am strongly considering HRT so I can live life on the other side and experience the prejudice first hand.
I am working on two problems:
1. I want to create way to generate electrical power without pollution. Basically, a closed cycle process that releases no pollutants, or electronic waste.
2. I want to do everything I can to eliminate gender bias in the world.
Machining
What is it?
At some point people are just going to stop paying rent.
this looks like a sweet way to build ship engines
This makes me like discord less
The people who hang out there change all the time
There’s few reasons not to, and eventually I think people will realize this.
Anecdotally I found that psilocybin reduced my feelings of depression to a state of… nothing.
This allowed me the space to think about how I should build an identity I was happier with.
Another time (LSD) I had an experience so terrifying that nothing in the mortal world compares. It destabilized me for a bit, however, the experience helped me recognize the volatility bounds of “normal” life emotions and that keeps them in perspective.
this seems like a bad idea
Now you know what OP meant by “fake”
What is your favorite?
It blows my mind that we know this is a massive problem and yet here we are frogs boiling slowly, arguing.
