Agreed. If I have to guess, the relevant fields in physics for software engineering would be quantum mechanics and thermodynamics. Of course, we don't see any direct relation as of now but it feel it should be important to determine the physical basis of software. The basis of software cannot be just math. It has to be physics.

My problem with such articles is that they mix the creation of software with the servicing of the software. It can be pretty complex to serve sophisticated software at scale in a cost-competitive and secure manner and it will remain so. So the engineering will remain important and domain expertise will remain important as well, as it has always been. Different business will rely on different combinations of these to create their own specific moats.
I think the confusion comes from considering Agile as a process instead of a set of values and principles. The Agile Manifesto only talks about values and principles(https://agilemanifesto.org/). Values are not right or wrong, they are just values you agree to or don't.
The problem mostly arises when processes are shoe-horned under the guise of 'Agile' in setups where they might not be the best fit by so-called process experts under pressure from management which does not know any better. The authors of Agile Manifesto have frequently said the concept of Agile has been badly twisted.
The actual post and this comment shows how early we are when simple and obvious ideas look novel when first conceptualizing them. Nothing against these ideas though, they are indeed good.
It seems that the cause of the difference in opinion is that the anti camp is looking at the current state while the pro camp looking at the slope and projecting it into the future.

(Good) Apps take the context of the user and their use-case from their head and make it into something the user can see and interact with. An app might or might not be the 'product'. Unfortunately it seems there is always going to be some 'product' so dark patterns might be here to stay.

Anyone can install whatever software they want on their device from wherever they want it. Just like it works for desktops. The need for app stores is an artificially created need (by the marketing brilliance of Jobs).

The browser is very accessible and understandable as an environment as compared to different kinds of desktop environments that exist. Sometimes having an imperfect thing which exists is better than a non-existent perfect thing. Sure, a web application will never be as snappier as a native application, but it can be built, deployed and maintained by a much smaller team than what would be required for supporting desktop applications for multiple environments. If it feels 'good enough' to the users, they won't care.

I think the feeling that you are mentioning could be more appropriately called being at peace, purposefulness, meaningfulness, mindfulness etc. It is quite different from the western concept of happiness. I don't think Gandhi or his disciples were singing and dancing when cleaning the toilets. They approached this duty solemnly. This approach to life is indicated in the Gita where it says that you need do things because they are your Karma without any expectation of reward(read happiness) in return. In this view of life, happiness and sadness are both transient and therefore it is useless to pursue happiness or run away from sadness. This perspective is thus tangential to the western pursuit of happiness. In fact, I think it can be argued that the pursuit of happiness is the real cause of sadness.
Apart from Karma-based approach in Gita, you can also look towards the Service-based approach in Sikhism or the Non-Detachment in Buddhism. In Sikhism, service is an integral part of religion and every Sikh is expected to give at least some time to do voluntary service in Gurudwaras(Sikh Temples). This is mostly in the form of chores like cooking food, washing utensils, polishing the shoes of visitors etc. In India, you can find some of the richest Sikhs doing these chores in Gurudwaras.
Similarly in Buddhism, detachment of the self is an important aspect of living a life which involves restraining oneself, cultivating discipline and practicing mindfulness and meditation.

As an outsider, it feels to me like the budget of any project tends to expand to the amount of capital available. When the budget is less, people tend to be more frugal. Which also means that at least some corner-cutting is done. But when the resources are vast, people insist on doing everything by the book. I see this not only in cases of public infrastructure but also in case of space programs as well(case in point, Mangalyaan). America has always been resource-rich and therefore I observe that it has a culture in which spending a lot of money is acceptable(since there is a lot of money).

The notes in circulation currently are only the old Rs. 100 notes and a few new Rs. 2000 notes. You are right that for small to moderate daily purchases costing between 500-1500, it does not make any sense. The new Rs. 2000 notes are essentially useless for now since no one can give you change for that.
In India, the concept has taken off because of Uber and Ola subsidizing the fares by paying the difference from VC money.
