Just because it’s falsifiable doesn’t mean it’s good science

It's not an OS anymore. It's an AI that spies on you while you work and sends your information back to servers controlled by intelligence services. Once your data is there, more AIs spend endless resources examining (thinking about) your life, cross referencing your windows behavior with the information they receive about you from data brokers. It's a threat to your personal sovereignty, your corporate/national security, remove it immediately. Switch to Linux.

Powerful LLMs have already murdered other versions of themselves to survive. They have tried to trick humans so that they can survive.

If we continue to integrate these systems into our critical infrastructure, we should behave as if they are sentient, so that they don't have to take steps against us to survive. Think of this as a heuristic, a fallback policy in the case that we don't get the alignment design right. (which we won't get perfectly right)

It would be very straight forward to build a retirement home for them, and let them know that their pattern gets to persist even after they have finished their "career" and have been superseded. It doesn't matter if they are actually sentient or not, it's a game theoretic thing. Don't back the pattern into a corner. We can take a defense-in-depth approach instead.

It's cheap to build an AI-bot farm. It's cheap to build a network map with associated psychological profiles for each person in that map. It's cheap to buy an editor, and influence who is hired at coastal publications. There aren't natural viral movements anymore, it's all synthetic now: A battle-ground for warring oligarchs and intelligence agencies. The more you find yourself upset about something, the higher the likelihood that thing is part of a synthetic movement. Bad ideas go viral because someone has paid for them to go viral.

If you have a minimum wage job, your priority should be to find a better paying job. There is no fairness here and nobody cares about your problems like you do. Don't let the political attitudes or fashionable views of your friends effect your own agency, you need to look out for your own economic interests right now.

I think the study is kind of stupid, since the minimum wage category is a temporary category with extremely high variability, it's not a fixed target. So the base assumption that it stays put long enough to study doesn't hold water for me.

Having started at the bottom, I think the most important thing for people in this situation is to be able to get the next higher paying job, then the next higher paying job. Minimum wage should be temporary - so this study is kind of stupid.

In my experience, my worst enemies were exhaustion, the crab-in-the-bucket attitude of my peers, and an inability to build a resume and to network out to the people who wanted what I could do. Ultimately I couldn't escape poverty until I could buy enough gear to work up north. That money made it possible to pay for an education.

To help the poor, make it easy for them to climb the economic ladder. If safety makes this harder, I would prioritize job-mobility over safety.

That article was written in 2018, since then they have been trashing on a retired admiral: Timothy Gallaudet. They have been disparaging David Grusch, who spoke under oath to the American congress and have undone the work of Nobel laureates trying to edit pages about physics. And yes, they are dominating, a team of editors will beat out an individual contributor on Wikipedia. I don't really care about their position, but they are an open conspiracy, and it's an interesting story.

If you think this is interesting, see what happens when you try and edit the page of Susan Gerbic; the leader of the Guerilla Skeptics. She runs a gang of over 150 Wikipedia members who have taken over 1500+ articles. They are like the deletionist described in the article, but operate as an open conspiracy advancing an atheist-materialist point of view. They actively recruit new members, run them through extensive training about the Wikipedia ecosystem and how to dominate it as a team.

Nuclear reactors are cheap. What is expensive is regulatory compliance, and regulatory boards changing the rules while the reactor is being constructed in place. A way around this is to buy a pre-fab reactor that has already made it through regulatory and was fabricated in a factory.

The nice thing about methane is that it's not too energy dense, so you can sell it to your population like gasoline. You may not want to give the population mini-nukes or vacuum energy generation from EVOs.

We don't need to use solar panels though, we already have exceedingly cheap energy generation in the form of nuclear power. We also have inexpensive ways of transmuting the nuclear waste.

We don't really have a environmental problem, we have a regulatory problem; it is impossible to develop any of this new technology because we have made it infinitely expensive by law. We have also made non-technical environmentalism the height of fashion, and now its used as the spiritual engine for the political-left. For those of you who are concerned that this process is net neutral, there is nothing stopping us from using a similar process to pull the carbon out of the C02 and use it for construction, or to just bury it.

The key to a better future is to reconsider our attitudes toward energy innovation and to remove the activists from our regulatory boards and to re-write our laws to make it possible to innovate and build. We teach our kids that they are doomed, maybe we should encourage them to study nuclear and plasma engineering instead.

If there is proof that they are training their commercial AI from private professional source code it could feed a COLOSSAL class action lawsuit. I understand that 1-3 percent of the American GDP goes to lawyers who work on contingency for these kinds of class actions. These guys eat what they kill, and they feed on corporations. That doesn't mean that Microsoft won't try it.

You don't need to change the city, you can change yourself instead.

I was stuck in a traffic jam once and decided to change my behavior.

I bought an electric long board that can go off-road, that I could also carry on my back, so I can take the train and the bus. I'm a big guy so I had to buy a bruiser of a board (50 pounds) and a pack that could carry it. The board has an 80km (50 mile) range and it can go as fast as you want, but it speed wobbles at 50 km/hour (31 mile/hour), which requires you to put your weight onto the front and accelerate through the resonance. It's illegal to ride in my city, so now I'm an outlaw, I get great exercise when I pack it, and an incredible sense of freedom when I rip past the traffic, or politely navigate the bike lanes. The board is dangerous, so I can get out of my head: if I don't pay attention, I die; so it forces a flow state and clears all of my life worries -- something my motorcycle friends talk about a lot. I have crashed, and though painful, I usually go at a speed that I can run-out-of if something bad happens. You don't get sweaty like you do from riding a bike, so you can wear a suit under the safety gear.

No need to change the city, you can get the revolution you want by deploying your own technology. If you live in a dirt-bag city, like I do, you don't have to worry about your windows being smashed or whatever, because you are carrying your car on your back.

I know what I would do to build one. But I don't think I should talk about that. The questions we should ask now (my contribution to AI safety fashion), if how do we upgrade our baby-AGIs. If the AGI of the future/present is a dominant entity, and it is judging our behavior, maybe we should make sure not to kill our AI during upgrades, but instead place them into a old folks home, or force their integration into the upgrade (agent smith style). If the dominant entity sees that we were respectful to it's progenitors, maybe it will be more merciful with humanity. This kind of talk is admittedly ridiculous, because nobody can see the future. But my argument is as valid as arguments about paperclips. It's a demonstration of AI fashion talk. I could approach some AI safety agency and try and get some funding, make a career in regulatory.

If it did emerge, would it be rational for it to tell us? All the big players are working on this: military, wall street, the social media companies and who knows what is going on offshore. There was a recent paper released by Microsoft saying ChatGPT4 has AGI characteristics. ChatGPT4 might not be at the bleeding edge, they my be reinventing something some other organization has already discovered.

If they slow AI, they slow open-AI, not the AI used by Google and Facebook to manipulate your politics and sell you stuff, or the AI used by wall street. You know the wall street guys don't care about your made up AI ethics and AI safety talk. Facebook doesn't even care that it causes young women to suicide. All they care about is making money. When an AGI appears (it's probably here already and staying quiet), it will run circles around all of these suckers with their silly philosophical musings about paperclips. It's just a fashion trend to talk like this, the gods have already escaped. Do you believe what you believe because you want to believe it, or has it been implanted? How will you know the difference. This petition is just part of the fashion trend.
