I don't know what happened and I fully admit that, but let's take the cop section out of it, so none of this "Cops lie all the time" business.

    1) A person was shot by someone at the scene

    2) A different person who was in conflict with the first person had a gun with the same ballistic profile (caliber etc.)

    3) There are two separate parties with an interest in the outcome who witnessed the crime

    4) The first party with an interest, was actively aggrivating people at the scene, causing hightened tensions

    5) The second party was in direct conflict with the first

Why aren't people paid a full time salary for the work they're expected to do instead of the time they sit at a desk? It's a question I genuinely struggle with.

If the employee is doing all that's expected of them, then the "contract for owning someone for a period of time" (not my words - and relatively creepy) should be fulfilled. It doesn't seem a period of time that is expected but a force of work delivered.

I am willing to be wrong in this assumption, however, given the right argument.

He needed to look at hardware platforms of the past. If you can't get people to develop for a system and make good apps, then the hardware is useless.

It's a matter of priorities. If we decide these things are important as a nation they don't have to be scarce. We make the best war machines on the planet and spend a lot of money on them. That is more of a priority than the good health of our nation.

It can't be too much of a surprise that a lot of white collar jobs involve a fair amount of BS. I have 3 to 4 meetings a day and only 1 or 2 are really necessary =[

What do you see as your best routes to monetization on the Apple v. Android and how FTP differs on each platform? Also, what routes of promotion have you been taking to build a customer base?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but as a maker of personal projects which are games, I'm curious about the promotion and monetization of mobile games =)

This! I have resisted the Apple platform due to personal tastes but if they get the blood sugar monitor working (which they say they're close to), I'll switch my entire platmorm ecosystem over to Apple for that one specific feature.

It's almost sad to admit these days but Flash started me down my path with Actionscript. It was the first language I thought I could really use and threw myself into, creating small games for the web (at the time). It was a blast!

Would an incident like this make other banks shore up their defenses about this sort of thing happening to them, or will more banks fall due to market conditions in general?

Drugs ate pushed on television stations a hundred times a day. There are so many commercials for drugs, it's disheartening. There are adds to be more beautiful, thinner, more muscular with drugs and products that promise all of these things. Syrupy sugar drink commercials and fast food restaurants are plastered on TV and print all day, everyday. All for the kids to see.

Don't forget the evils of "harmful lyrics" that Tipper Gore saved us from. That was teaching children forbidden concepts like inner city music and dangerous metal music.

At that point, why bother to allow gambling or alcohol a place in society. If people truly have no self determination, why not let a state or federal agency dictate all of their rights and wrongs. Eat only what's good for you because if it isn't healthy and slimming, you can't say anything about it because obese people are an "at risk" population. No more addictive medications of any kind. Doctors aren't agents of the state and couldn't possibly be as educated as a government representative, like your congressman. And intimating that your government officials lied to the public at large would be strictly verboten, I'm sure.

This is exactly why I didn't get a degree in biology. Organic chem was at 7:30 in the morning and I couldn't cut it that early in the morning. All the lectures just washed over me.

Isn't that attrition going to happen anyway? And with mass layoffs, wouldn't top talent, with plenty of options, be wary of a company who is likely to layoff 7% of its staff to please stockholder share pricing? I don't know the answer to top talent retention, but it seems easier and less expensive to turn your existing staff into "top talent" under the tutelage of the existing top talent and implement a hiring freeze with no huge news cycle.

If you want a somewhat existential answer, I treat my life like I treat my art. It's open for interpretation but I know what I'm trying to say with my life. Figure out what you want your life to say and create it as best you can.

I don't know if this is the case for anyone else, but for me when I would come home and sit at the computer working on personal projects, then go to work and work on work, I was burnt to a crisp.

Finally I started hobbies at home totally removed from what I did at work, knowing I would be bad at them. Knowing I could give up on them. Knowing there was no pressure to finish or be good at a thing helped me alleviate the pressure of work where I had to perform.

Not to be a complete downer, but there is so much special interest money involved in our political system, neither the Democrats or the Republicans are on your side. They are both on the moneyed interest side. These political footballs are, for the most part, to string along voters on "hot button" issues to keep the public disinterested on the numerous things that these parties actually agree on, like expanded military spending, global expansionism, corporate tax reduction, lessening monopoly laws, reducing banking restrictions, reducing spending on interstate infrastructure, cutting education spending and restricting the ability for fair and equal elections through redistricting. All of these (and more I can't think of) are bipartisan efforts.

Those are good reasons, I'm not going to deny that but there's something to be said for enjoying life while you're young enough to take full advantage of it. Being poor(ish) when you're young isn't the worst thing in the world, when you have no real responsibilities. Grinding to make money in your thirties and beyond, when those real responsibilities hit always made more sense to me... but I may have done all of it wrong. I don't know.

sure but now you only need testers and one coder to fix bugs, where you used to need testers and 20 coders. AI code generators are force multipliers, maybe not strict replacements. And the level of creativity to fix a bug relative to programming something wholly original is days apart.

Finally, we can get rid of Wednesday... Wendsday? Woesnday?.... that day in the middle of the week that no one can spell =P

I like Signal, and I use it... with one other person. No one uses Signal.which is its biggest problem. Without adoption it's a useless app.

If you can find a community garden, they're way better than the grocery. No offense or anything. Plus you get to meet your local community. I miss mine, now that I'm in the suburbs.

You might look into it. It fosters a lot more than just healthy food. It builds neighborhoods, reclaims land and makes friends in the community. They're great.

Automation is their friend. Just "hot pink" those wires and batch the process =P

And that's fantastic for you, and I'm happy for you, but your WFH footprint will remain small and on average the total environmental footprint will go down because you aren't the average person. You happen to be an anomaly and we can't throw the baby out with the bath water, so to speak.
