How is it abuse? These resources have no marginal cost to produce and their creators generally want as much use as possible (think pre-prints, open access course material, ...). However, less well researched individuals (commonly found in poorer areas) are simply not aware of these resources.

If a data scientist at Google uses R instead of SAS (or some other proprietary statistical computing language) while a data scientist at a non-profit is forced to use SAS because of organizational constraints there is no abuse.

The paper, I think, makes a more interesting claim than you give it credit for: those areas that can afford scholarly work tend to make use of free resources the most. Based on this work, it is possible that open access alone is not enough to give poorer universities, etc. the access to scholarly work.

A few people have already published results of Geekbench 4 of the DTK and the performance is impressive already, specially considering that the DTK is using a 2-year old chip, in an emulated environment. The chances that Intel will hit back is fairly small. In the last several years we have seen a gigantic brain-leak from the company, and is unlikely that they'll keep being reference for performance for much longer.

The demo images used on hific.github.io appear to be part of the datasets used to train the system. In another comment you say the trained model is 726MB. The combined size of the training datasets appear to be about 8GB zipped. Is the currently trained model usable on images that are not part of the training datasets? with output of similar quality and size?

Yeah, I've eaten a decent amount of raw animal products of good quality and never gotten sick from them. Beef 4 times or so, pork once, sashimi and non sashimi grade fish, eggs, (daily), beef liver, cow tongue, oddly never milk yet.

I don't think there is actually any good evidence that what I've done in that regard should be promoted. Price's book never promoted these things either.

I've seen/read this site before. What really bothers me about it and the similar arguments found on quackwatch, they are pretty much all based on crap from The Weston A. Price Foundation that Price himself never even wrote/promoted.

If SBM did ANY due diligence, I'm Pretty sure they'd notice that the foundation, (founded in 1999) is pretty far apart from Price's book, "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration". He died in 1948 and thus, had no connection to the foundation bearing his name. It's like they didn't read his book at all and just assumed The Weston A. Price Foundation was echoing his findings. The Weston A. Price Foundation is essentially wack fanfic, very loosely based on his findings, with tonnes of other "holistic" horse shit thrown in.

Dr. Price himself was a proponent of many things that are coming into favor now, such as not overly processing food, not having white bread, getting adequate amounts of vit. d, vit. a, calcium and some others.

FWIW, I enjoyed copious amounts of milk as a kid until about the age of 20, its just about all I drank. My vit. a/d levels must have been through the roof vs the average person. (In Canada vit. d3 has to be added to milk by law.) I'm 37, have all 32 teeth, sans cavities, yes even the wisdom teeth. Now adays, I prefer to just drink water and get vits. a/d from cod liver oil. My diet mostly consists of much vegetables and animal foods. Cooked veg and meat are always cooked in butter. I've never been overweight, my bp is 115/65. I'm super sedentary in the winter, quite active in the summer.

Do you know of any epics close to Hyperion? I have been searching for a long time and have not found anything on par with it.

Dune (often named) and The Expanse were not meant for me and have been ruined for me by the movies/TV shows. The old Asimov stories are... old.

I read many larger volumes such as the Commonwealth Saga, Three Body Problem etc. but nothing caught the way Hyperion did for me.

Funnily, from the many books and series I read, the ones I remember most fondly were on the other end of the spectrum of Hyperion: Bobiverse and The Murderbot Diaries - both short, much less beautiful language and more on the funny side but original and thought provoking.

Hyperion by Dan Simmons (the whole cantos, all books).

The finale in the last book really touched my heart and let me think about love and how much to value the time you have with each other.

I never thought to find this in a science fiction space opera - I was shocked.

The idea in the book I am talking about is crazy and I cannot fathom how one would feel if something like this really happened. It is wonderful and sad at the same time.

That said and totally apart from it, the whole thing is a masterpiece. You have to read all books of the canon, even if the first book with the unique stories seems strange - I could not put it down though. Apart from that it also has great storytelling, wonderful language, crazy ideas (a house with rooms on different... no spoiler :) and more.
