It's possible and I'm sorry if it does come off that way. When I write, it is a tough balance between being showing humility and taking the tone of "here's what I've learned and I might be wrong" vs. "HERE IS WHAT I'VE LEARNED"

This is obviously Step 2 of many to wean off of Oracle's hardware, infrastructure and software which Salesforce undoubtedly has been running on since Day 1 but now can no longer afford to do so for strategic reasons.

Totally, a simple answers site like this is seriously in need. I wouldn't even mind paying $9/month for something simple and elegant and easy to brand like this.

I burned out late last year after finishing our accelerator program. I took some time to reset and then came back with a vengeance. I'm happy to grab a drink/talk on the phone and share what worked for me: tk@toutapp.com.

I wonder if Rails has something like this. A message bus or atleast the concept of one is going to become more and more prevalent in Internet applications I think.

Thanks for the comments guys. I just thought I would clarify one thing. My values list is sorted by most important to least and then certain values, including "being adored by society" is circled in red.

Now, that's an important distinction. The ones circled in red mean they are in conflict with "truth" and therefore is a value I have to work to eliminate from my life.

I believe that everyone has values such as these, where for one reason or another, you've learned to value it even at a subconscious level -- the best you can do is write it down, acknowledge it, and then work to eliminate it.

The reason I ask for three blocks of time is because the Investor is WAY BUSIER than I am. SO, in this scenario, I'm giving him the option to basically PICK what time works for him and I will 99% of the time go with the first one.

I also ask for TWO more so that we reduce on email back and forth.

Its all about 1) less emails and 2) accommodating the investor. If he or she is already looking at the calendar for ONE time that works, sureley TWO more is not that bad and it increases the chances of getting a mutual time that works.

90% of your time is spent IN the email app. Not the boot process, nor the home screen and certainly not the IT administrative process of setting up servers (users do not care about that -- that is why highly paid IT people deal with it at Enterprises).

Let's get real though -- which would you rather have in your next car? A QNX operated system or an iOS system?

Based on my understanding, most "properly configured" Exchange 2010 servers are inside of the corporate firewall sealed off. BES/BIS (whatever the name is) gives secured access to outside servers.

Yes, and to add to that -- even if they don't -- that market is still ripe for taking and we're thinking hard about it at Tout.

There are two ways to interpret this: OPTION A) Omg, I'm not going to use Rails, even Twitter is ditching it. OPTION B) Hmm.. They built something really fast using Rails, got it out there, got massive popularity, made boatloads of $$ and now they're maturing and moving to a more robust infrastructure.

I go with Option B. If you're a new startup -- don't confuse this advice and start brewing your own Java-based server just because Twitter is doing this now.
