Why I Hate Android 15 years ago

Summary: MG says he doesn't give Android a fair chance when he compares it to the iPhone not because he loves Apple but because he hates Google.

I think the tablet market will either be completely turned upside down when Windows 8 comes out, or iOS will just keep dominating. I hate to say it, but right now it looks like Android is only successful on phones, and it doesn't look like that is changing anytime soon. Come CES 2012 though, I may have to eat my own words.

I wonder if this is because Microsoft is becoming better and better at embracing open source when it sees a business advantage to do so, or if it's simply a last-ditch effort to keep Messenger alive as more and more people use it less frequently or not at all because the likes of smartphones, apps, and Facebook (Chat) are becoming more widely adopted.

I'm one of the students from UofT that helped with this project. Basically, my group for one of our Software Engineering courses had the assignment of helping with this enormous task. We didn't finish (this was two years ago), but we did make a lot of progress (fixing bugs to get the tests to pass in both versions). It was one hell of a goal so it's great to see this finally done!

Chrome Privacy 15 years ago

I thought it was general knowledge that the closed-source Chrome sends (some) data back to Google while the open-source Chromium does not.

Disclosure: I use Chrome (default) and IE9 (whenever Chrome fails).
