Well providing a competitive analysis of your website/company is purely automated now a days by SEO companies. That is one big example.

I've noticed a lot of companies have started doing that.

Some have automated software that finds good targeted domains purchases them, auto populates content, and then pays freelancers to create relevant articles. Octante360 did a good job of it.

Planning is indispensable, it usually equates into time management as well. Even though you won't follow through with the plan completely, it's always good to have one.

Basically have a rough plan sketched out in your head what has to be done tomorrow, this week, this month and how you'll go about doing it.

Example: Wake up 9am, shower & eat, study for an hour, class at 12, lunch, gym, class at 4, study till 7-8, socialize after.

Make sure you account for burning out, so you plan for exercising and socializing.

Analyze parts of your plan that didn't work out, figure out why, and try to plan better next time.

I would even plan in skill acquisition, such improving studying habits. Learn to become focused, while your studying at the library don't be socializing, getting distracted every time someone walks by, or even letting unrelated thoughts interrupt.

Study with other people. It'll help you gain realizations/insights, and a deeper understanding quicker than you would yourself. Make sure you carefully select who you study with though!

In addition, utilize some of the resources people have already posted on this thread on how to improve your studying habits. Studying is a skill, and like everything else you can optimize it. High achievers have just figured out the best path.

Tools wise I guess I would refer you to wordtracker, and other keyword research tools. Since the more specific you are with your terms the lower the bid price can be.

Since GNU and all the other open source licenses won't let you achieve your commerical goals, you have to bank on legal technicalities.

Not entirely sure, but I'd say Magento uses one of the following ways. They claim open-source, but I was never able to figure out how.

Summary

1. Dual license. Add value through closed-source features, services, etc... on the commercial licensed.

2. Have your commercial product piggyback on the open-source creation.

3.Software as a Service.

4.Offer support, consulting, some type of service to assist the (free)open source product.

Well first you have to scrape the information, you could use something like uBot, or some macro software out there.
