It will probably just be called "Windows". They've shown they wanted windows 10 to be the final release of windows that they'll just update a couple times a year and add on to. This new windows will probably be a more simplified windows that they've been trying to make with windows 10S/S mode and windows 10X. Give it a UI/UX overhaul, push the WUP and call it just Windows because its the only windows you'll ever have to worry about from now on.

A lot of consoles are sold at a loss, where costs are made up by people buying games through the console on the makers store, I wonder how valve will go about this because I don't see a lot of people getting this that didn't already have steam on another device.

Yeah this is where valve's investment into Linux would potentially pay off. Any platform they make could run Linux and work really well while basically all of steam's competitors either haven't done anything for Linux or have actively avoided/worked against it.

They're still paying the price for what the US did to them, I don't think it's too uncommon for reparations to be payed by different people because usually reparations are on behalf of the government itself. If a different government took over the US then I think it would be a bit unfair to expect reparations. But as it stands it's the same government and a lot of the people who took part in the atrocities are still alive today, it's not like it happened hundreds of years ago.

Humanity has seen the most positive growth by far under Pax Americana.

It's not really much of a Pax Americana in the middle east or Central/South America. East Asia seems to be next too. "Pax Americana" has definitely been amazing for the west and it's friends but as countries like China and India start to challenge that, true colors will probably start to show as the existing world power(s) fight to keep that title.

I'd imagine a lot of explosions too. Most big excavation back then used explosions but also a lot of individual manpower as well.

It looks very nice. I like that it has the option to start without sound as well.

I know exactly what you mean, my personal tolerance is higher so I don't care as much but I think everything being customizable also makes it less solid feeling.

Gecko itself is almost impossible to use outside of firefox at this point so I don't think it would work well in this kind of a browser unfortunately. I'm not sure about servo though other than it just not being ready for normal browsing.

at the moment I plan on continuing using firefox so I'm not leaving but you can't keep using a browser with a worse experience because of some futile moral cause. Firefox has to earn their place and be a browser people to use. I think firefox going after the general public makes sense but when it comes at an expense to generally more advanced users they've probably gone a step too far though to be fair they don't have nearly as many devs as other browsers like chrome and edge.

I love coming across things like this. This is what makes the internet so cool to me, being able to just watch tv from decades ago completely wild.

I'm excited to see where HarmonyOS goes. If google had to compete with another mobile OS it would be interesting to see what they do.

Discord too, its not as ubiquitous as steam but its popular here too.

Yeah same, I guess it depends on how much data they have on you. I've been using youtube and google products in general for a long time and only recently have been breaking away, but I'm sure that that has somewhat helped. Especially considering I created a new account and the reccomendations are not so great, and youtubes in general. Still its pretty good so ¯\ (ツ) /¯

I love transparency, it looked pretty trash in the vista aero theme because of all the gloss but now I feel like its realizing its true beauty.

I agree with you for the most part, but unless you are organized with a very large group of people, voting with your wallet doesn't really accomplish anything.

This is a cool project, but I feel like this is going to have a bit of trouble finding a userbase. It's not designed for technical users who love to endlessly tweak or change aspects of a system, or for the people who want super lightweight systems, or for people who want lots of control over their system. The kind of people who want an OS like this probably don't know what an OS is. I think the only people who would end up using this for long periods of time is the grandmas and relatives of people who know about this.

Still I love to see projects like this, very cool idea.

correction: you don't care about what happened 100 years ago. You don't care because it doesn't affect you. 100 years ago isn't very long ago at all, and the economic consequences can still effect people. The difference for people who's grandparents or great grandparents were able to work normally and provide for their children and the people who's grandparents or great grandparents who were slaves.

also I feel that its worth noting that "avoiding work whenever possible" isn't something you can ascribe to just one group of people. Most people don't love working, which makes it easy to pin it on a specific type of people but you can see it in really anyone. And it can be caused by a lot of external factors, being tired because you don't go home to a place you can feel safe and rest, being consistently shit on because of your culture, not having a great upbringing, being sick, and sometimes some people just cant set their minds to a task the same as others. Things like this can be helped by having a stable job and being treated the same as other people around you.
