There should exist a vulnerability disclosure intermediary. They can function as a barrier to protect the scientist/researcher/enthousiast and do everything by the book for the different countries.

Any background info on the betting on cameras alone? It sounds as silly as betting on an artificial version of our proprioception to be implemented in cars to measure acceleration. I also don't think they went all the way regarding neuromorphic engineering with spiking neural nets and artificial retinas. It's just so random to me what was decided to be good enough for autonomous navigation.
Tesla went from very expensive cars down to cheaper ones. It would make so much more sense to do the same for perception. First go over board and go for high bandwidth input and lots of processing power and optimize later.

I think there's a use case for all kinds of price levels, but there's a sweet spot.
Anecdotally. I bought a 3D printer when it dropped below 1000 bucks. I bought the Emotiv Epoc when at 300 bucks. I bought a Saleae logic analyser at the same price level if I remember correctly. Same with other tools or toys. The HackRF, the Kinect, the Quest, etc.
The higher the price the more you'll have to explain to people how they can justify the costs. You'll have to explain how much personnel hours are being saved, etc.
The more I'm in this space (of manufacturing electronic devices) the more I'm convinced Bill of Material (BOM) and in general Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) optimization is essential. Companies that can do this in a lean manner without excessive engineering costs to do so can truly drive the price down.
If there is this operational excellence, then you can truly give most power to your strategists in the sales and marketing departments. Otherwise, they have no tradeoffs to consider and are just victims of sloppy (non-cost conscious) engineering.
How's that implemented? I'm just used to embedded. Implementing sbrk etc.

Gnuradio was also new to me. However with two HackRFs I could do the entire thing. First replay attacks. Then trying to get the code by building up a set of processing blocks. Last synthesis of the complete signal.

Seems clunky. I would also go for a wireless solution. Moreover, I would bring out two products. The headset and the box. The box only has to be powered on. Nothing fancy. It can be completely dedicated to the headset. And the headset itself is very light and optimized for pixels and receiving data as quick as possible. In that case you don't rely on any wifi in the house.
What might happen is that you developed a box on h.256 optimized for super low latencies. Sounds as valuable tech on its own. :-)
What can happen:
+ Approximate matching. They might want to have images almost similar also to be flagged. + Scope creep. Particular images of people who are wanted or areas where they might live or shots of joints etc. + Mistakes. Accidentally flagging honest citizens and the bureaucracy that will follow. "Innocent until proven guilty..." That's not preemptively scanning someone's personal devices.

Very difficult to find out if then actually taking vitamin D as a supplement would do something valuable.

About 3. One of the coolest attitudes I saw was from someone (autistic, but that doesn't matter) who approached every problem as something to love, to cherish, to appreciate. Now I'm reading a book about the early days in Bell labs. I feel through the pages how much fun they had with finding issues, finding things to improve, finding out the future. I think there's so much to gain if you can find a positive approach to problems. Also in real life!
I guess there are some other conditions? Such as that you should be able to sleep in it without it causing accidents per distance driven, or only a few accidents, or only a few fatal accidents.

I guess most can be explained by the quadcopter (or just wind) if they use that to make pictures. There's a lot of dirt/dust/sand that it will move. That will reveal "new pebbles" and make older ones "bigger".
