I'll show this to my friend. My friend is waiting an HTML5 version of Swing Copters since it was released! It's because I showed him this[1] and is interested to do something like it for Swing Copters. Now that there is an HTML5 version, he can now proceed to his project.

I think I'm a mix of data scientist and a backend engineer. But I don't think I have experience doing work in energy industry.

Friendster. It was the time when overlay layouts in Friendster was a thing. I was in high school that time and I want to impress my friends. I researched about overlay layouts and found a site where you can download and modify them. I wanted more, I want an overlay layout for myself. Not just anything that was downloaded in the internet. I learned that HTML is the way to do it. I studied HTML through PageTutor (http://www.pagetutor.com/html_tutor/index.html). It was the best tutorial I found.

After successfully created my overlay layout, I decided to create a website for our group of friends. I then uploaded it in Freewebs (now http://www.webs.com/). My teacher saw that site and ask me to join a competition. I won awards and made it up to 6th place in the national competition.

That was my realization. I realize that I can do and I want something like this. I decided to take up Computer Science in college. Learned how to code and that was it.

I only play two games most of the time: DotA2 and NBA2K14. I can say they have pretty impressive AI. For both games, I rarely beat the AI with the hardest difficulty. Unfortunately, the lack of intelligence of the team mates for both games gives me a disadvantage that also adds to its difficulty.

Spotify Philippines is super cheap. But I didn't realized how cheap it really is until I saw the site. I think they just launched last month with a really low price. Spotify Premium here in PH only costs 129 pesos[1]. How cheap is it?

Today, $1 = P44.28 so P129 is just $2.91.

Of course it was adjusted with the market value here in PH. It was really a good deal. They also partnered with the telcos here to boost their presence. And I think, they don't have much competition here in PH.

In my opinion, automatic summarization by abstraction. There are lots of automatic summarization algorithm that does extraction like TextTeaser (https://github.com/MojoJolo/textteaser). I think they do the job well but it doesn't have a realistic feel in it. To achieve it, I think automatic summarization by abstraction is the way to go. It almost mimics how humans summarized text. But I think there is still no algorithm that can really perform abstraction well.

I'm looking to try it in the near future. With a good training data, I'm looking into using genetic algorithm eventually evolving the text into an almost human summary. I'm excited for this!

Regarding the #1. Size. I really like how tiny it is. I think it will be a perfect gift for my girlfriend that is into 3d stuff. Maybe she can 3d print some miniature models as a hobby and for entertainment. Not necessarily for practical use.

This is disturbing. They arrest the guy and sentenced to ten years in jail with just a screenshot of a Facebook comment as a starting evidence. It's kinda puzzling to me why didn't they manage to check the whole thread? I think it's simple enough and contacting Facebook for it is not needed.

Right now, I'm working on Readborg [0], an Android app. It is a news reader for Philippine news. I know that there are lots of news reader out there, but I just checked the Play Store for News & Magazine category in the Philippines and it looks promising. The problem is, Flipboard, Feedly, and such caters majority of US and international news. For Readborg, I intend to cater Philippine news for Filipino readers.

Readborg is also tightly integrated with TextTeaser [1], an automatic summarization API that I created. Right now, it's on beta stage but you can already download it at Google Play Store [2] if Philippine news is relevant to you.

How was Pebble on Android? I'm planning to buy Pebble and I'm on Android (Nexus 5). I first thought it was an iOS exclusive but then I saw in on Google Play [0].

In my case, I was a software engineer for more than a year. I made an algorithm that works well during my MS degree. A company took notice of it. They hired me.

I don't have much data science background. I don't have any formal introduction in it. But when I started, I realized that my experience in building the algorithm is a good enough starting point. My point is, don't just take online courses, try to apply what you learn. Try Kaggle, can't vouch for it though, I still don't have a chance to try it. You can also gather data, do some data science out of it, post your findings as an article in your blog, and share it in social media. Not a sure fire, but can give you credibility and people will know that you knew something about data science.

There are some inconsistency with regards to his tattoo in the blog and the website.

In the blog, it mentioned that the rm -rf / was in his left chest. And in the website, it was said to be in his right chest. This is also the case for his sacred heart tattoo. Based on the picture, sacred heart tattoo is placed in his right chest.
