A college professor taught me about Zotero during my last semester. Awesome tool, but I wish I learned about it years before. I try and teach every student I meet about it.

I'm not sure if you posted it anywhere, but would you mind sharing what technology you used for this? I would be very interested in contributing if it became open source.

Just to add my experience, I feel like it's hit or miss. It seems like I get notifications with zero issues. Then I'll randomly have a week or two in a row where I don't get notifications or get 50% of them. Not sure why this happens, but I use Discord as my only means of contact with multiple people.

I completely agree there is no best desktop. I think the statement is better suited as Ubuntu is the "best desktop experience for the average person". I think that's what most people really mean when having this discussion. The average person part is sort of implied.

I understand the sacrifice though. I've always been an Android guy, but I'm left out of a lot of group chats because of it. I play on multiple sports teams where I'm the only one without an iPhone. They have a group chat for the team, and I'm the only one left off. Same with just difference friend groups. I try and get people to use whatsapp, hangouts, groupme, or just anything else and no dice. I've considered switching to an iPhone just for social reasons, but can't bring myself to do it.

I think it's a little unfair to just decide what "worse" is. Every older generation loves to say they like the old ways better. Seems hypocritical as they watch tv while playing on their iPad.

Yes. Consider the amount of movement/exercise the average western person gets, it might even be life threatening.

That seems like a massive stereotype there. I just don't see how changing the lighting in your house from a switch to audio could be "life threatening". You have zero idea what physical fitness the individual above does. I also don't understand how asking, "What is the weather like outside?" while tying your shoes is an issue. I don't think this is Asimov level of automation. It's just a mild convenience.

I always feel like around the 2 year mark my phone feels very different compared to when I bought it. Battery feels worse, everything feels slower, and crashes start to accumulate. Are you not running into this?

I grew up in Pennsylvania, and Denver is my first place outside of there. Housing is expensive, but not near NYC/SF expensive. The tech scene is growing, but clearly isn't as big either. Overall, I really like Denver, and I'm happy with my choice. I wouldn't be opposed to trying a different city though, since I've only lived in two places.

Denver, CO - Office (Downtown by Coors Field) is 1.2 miles from my apartment. I either walk to work, or my girlfriend drops me off sometimes. Denver has a free metro bus that goes up and down 18th/19th street. If I'm lucky I can catch it at and cut 5-10 minutes off my walk. Sometimes there isn't one there, and I just walk the whole way. If I do that it takes 20-25 minutes, but is nice and easy.

Both my coworker and I are in the (23-26) range. All my friends (new city, college, and home) all use Snap religiously. All of her friends use Instagram. I think it's just hit or miss depending on the groups. A lot of my friends use Instagram as well. However, not for the story aspect.

Wow until about half way through the article I read Discourse as Discord, and it didn't make any sense to me. Now that I understand, this seems like a pretty cool solution. I have been really loving both slack and discord for personal use. Unfortunately, my work use Skype for business. I have been pushing for a switch to slack.
