I'm getting this patern a lot on Prestashop websites, where thousand, to not say hundreds of thousand, of request are coming from bots not announcing themselves in the User-agent, and coming from different IP's
Very annoying. And you can't filter them because they look like legitimate trafic.
On a page with differents options (such as color, size, etc...) they'll try all the combinaisons, eating all the ressources.
This and a Z80 assembler book to speed up a bit code because the basic was really too slow to do anything (had the 16k memory extention too because 800 and something octet were not enough)
At first I thought you were a bit contemptuous. After all, we don't know what OP is really doing on the net.
But after reading a lot of the other comments, I think you're on to something. A lot of people mistake social media with the Internet (not saying OP or any one here is), showing that they (SM) somehow won (for now) and it's sad.
It's the nineties back again, when most ISP logged you in their application (looking at you AOL) or on their website. People open their phone and go directly on Instagram, Fb, or whatever, and they're "on the web" they think.
This. For me (senior as in I am in the field since last century), that's how I use it. "I want to do that, with this data, to obtain that"
I still do the part of my job that I got experience on, analyze the need, and use the AI like an assistant to do small libraries or part of code. Like these, errors have less chance to appear.
Then I glue that together.
For me the time ratio is best use like that. If I have to describe the whole thing, I'm not far from doing it myself, so there's no need for me.

Well, in the 80's I had an Amstrad CPC, and there was a game named "Le passager du temps" ("Passenger of time") [1]. It was a text adventure game with some graphism in it. The goal was to explore the house of your uncle and find out where he was.
After a while, you found a machine and when you finally assemble everything and start it....the game stop working and loop in a "we're tired of hacking" message !
Of course, with the cracked version.
And it was clever, because
1) you tried the game and enjoyed it. And now you're frustrated and want to play it, so you might actually buy it
2) the anticopy test was late in the game, so everyone who copied it thought the copy was ok and spreaded it.
For example, he cannot access his bank account via his desktop anymore.
He have to go to his agency in person.
Well we all did that for years so it's just annoying, because he still have the possibility to do it and it's his choice.
But what will happen if all the brick and mortar close ? When will it be mandatory to get a smartphone for his bank app, just to have access to his money ?
Well it seems I played almost all of his games recently. I have an Half Life 2 game in progress and finished Dishonored for the 4th time last december.
When our kids reached 12, they were almost the only ones in their class to not have a smartphone, nor any social media.
So what to do ?
Trying by ourselves to educate every parents whom made bad decisions letting their children get access to social media way too early ?
Continue holding to our valor and isolate them from any outside school social interaction with their schoolmate ?
Bend the knee to the power of social media that have rotten our society so deep, and let our kids use WhatsApp to communicate with their mates ?
Of course, in my ideal world, it would be the first option. But I've tried and failed (may be I'm not a good talker ?) so many times that I gave up.
So if any government rule was made to protect my kids and protecting other's ones, well I'll sure want a debate on it. And a people debate, not a lobbyist one of course.
