Im the total opposite, I don't want to own music (some things sure) but streaming services allow me to use the music I like to listen to wherever I want. I can make playlists and organize how I want it even make my own "radio stations" for different moods.

There is no way I can and will buy the amount of metal music I consume lol.

Also the algo that suggests new music is awesome! I learned about a lot of new bands just by using that feature.

Ok, as someone who has tried all note taking apps and systems, the best way to do it is your way.

I started just writing in an empty note everyday (ofc I do digital, I can't write something readable if my life depended on it). The empty note is in Obsidian but you can really use whatever you want, you name the file todays date and thats it. All the things that happen this day at work / private i write inside of that note.

After work is done, do a small reflection and move the needed notes into separate files or extend some other things.

Lets say I work on a kubernetes cluster. I have a note "Kubernetes setup". Today I've configured some services used some kubectl commands etc. and everything I do I document into my "daily" note. After the workday is done I see, "oh i've added new commands and explanations to my notes" and I move them accordingly to the kubernetes setup note if needed.

So find your system and work with it. If you do write notes try to write them as if you are writing a documentation for your future self.

am I the only one who is like "I don't care about creative work". I just like to code and I like money so for me my career is a win win?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Windows or Macs are better, I do have a windows machine where I game and do ocasionally some work, but they are miles better when compared to Linux and its ecosystem.

Have you ever tried running an old App on linux compared to windows lets say? Windows compatibility is unmatched. I can effortlessly run old programs and games.

If a linux project is abandoned for a few years, good luck making it run. (and I know you can always recompile etc, but thats besides the point, no "normal" user will compile an app)

I love the terminal and everything but we should not teach people how to use it. The terminal is not the most user friendly thing out there is it? (maybe its harsh saying "should not teach" but lets say make them aware there is a terminal but there should be alterantives)

I would not get rid of it.. ever, but I would love to see alternatives to it. People are too fixated on working from the terminal and using the terminal that they don't see that its literally the thing that gate keeps people away from trying Linux.

The issue is a bit more than that. To make gamers and normal users switch to linux we need to make more GUI apps for linux and increase the accessability of linux GUI / DE.

Just watch the LTT videos about gaming on Linux. Linux is a Cluster** of an OS to troubleshoot and configure.

I'm a dev myself I love my Arch and everything but this OS is NOT meant for normal people.

Its 2022, people don't want to fiddle around with a terminal.

Until Linux and its users don't fix the core problem of linux and thats usability, I don't see people switching to it.

Hi, I'm the creator of filenest. I mainly used this as a learning tool and also a way to organize my messy download folder. Currently I have used Electron and pure JS to write it. I plan on refactoring it to TS and Electron in the future.

The only thing that is still making me headaches is the whole build process to make it a installation file. Should be pushed shortly tho.

So I finish work at 17:00 - 17:30 and their standup is in 18:15 my time...

Sometimes I say a bit late and join it but can't do it every day..

Austrian here, but its funny how Europe in general is still so walled from technology, I'm not just talking about people don't know how to use apps or that. Im a developer and I've worked remotely with clients from Silicon Valley and now I work with local companies and I must say the wiligness to learn something new and to explore new things is just not there.

The current company has a product almost 20 years old and still runs on old Java code. Which is fine, dont fix what is broken, but now we need to rewrite everything in new Tech stack, and thats where I come in, I got hired to help the transition. However, the people are so not in to work on something new.. they just want their Eclipse and Java. I dont know if this is a culture thing or what, but they are just not fans of technology as it seems.
