Meh, the problem and it's solution isn't that original so I wouldn't scream ripoff just yet. Also The other site want's you to install an extension. In my personal experience (a while back so don't know current situation) it was a bit buggy, and the offline reading thing didn't work very well. With this you can have sort of the same (minus offline reading). I still prefer delicious (tag: toread or towatch) though, have to admit I'm a bit of a fan of the delicious site, so I'm not that objective.

So you need someone who has lots of ambition AND doesn't object to put in a lot of work AND get a low paycheck AND is SOL when your startup dies. Good luck in finding that person.

Tivo takes software under a free licence, redistibutes it, and takes every step possible you can't do the same thing. We see the same thing with some android handsets. Open source is freedom and creativity, we need to protect that freedom, if not, open source will die. Stallman understands this.

How much memory does your server need? Need a backup solution? How bout an apc module? What are the bandwith requirements, do you need multi or single gigabit lines? Like I said, their business works more on a case by case basis instead of select a, b or c and proceed to checkout. I'm not saying you have to join them, but they're a good, solid serviceprovider.

So when you ask for pricing information, you get a call from a account manager, who helps you find what you need and offers a price. For instance if you need a server to do your email there are a lot of options and solutions to choose from, managed server or exchange mailboxes.

Ofcourse at that moment they'll try to sell you some more, like file hosting, terminal services etc...

It's just not a plan A, B and C with options x y z company.

Actually, slashdot manages pretty well. Considering the number of users they have. Their moderation system has matured over time. And the typical WTF, 'funny pics' and youtube crap that ruins other sites is isolated on http://idle.slashdot.org/ where it can harm no-one. I think it starts with comment moderation ( http://slashdot.org/moderation.shtml ). It's hard to get karma on /. by just fooling around, and you have to be a dedicated user to even get to moderate other comments. Contrary to digg where a sensible comment about X can be downmodded into oblivion by an army of 13 year old fanboys.

If you use the pdf creator software from adobe that may be the case, but that includes DTP software. I've been using pdfcreator ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ ) for years now. Works like adobe's distiller and does the job great.
