Call me naive, but why not natively run the Nix package manager side-by-side with pacman. This allows one to safely use tools like Home Manager to manage their user environment and dotfiles declaratively while leaving the core Arch Linux base completely untouched.

That’s Finance. They don't fly the plane; they just wait for the right moment to drop the bill for those premium tokens.

Apple Just Lost Me 4 months ago

I was in almost the exact same boat as the author. As a long-time Apple power user, I reached my breaking point about a year ago and finally migrated my workflow to Linux. I’m still letting my iPhone age out, but I’ve already stripped it of all Apple cloud services. Instead, I’ve replaced every stock app with self-hosted alternatives running on my own beefy NAS. If you have the technical overhead to manage your own stack, I highly recommend it, owning your data is a total game-changer for privacy.

The same could be said of any worldview. So tell me—what part of UNESCO’s decision to admit the “State of Palestine” as a Member State strikes you as objectively righteous?

I realize. Which is why I am puzzled by the acquisition of a retailer. What I mean by that is that a retailer that has such financial backing can destroy the watch luxury retail market.

I frankly don't understand how the acquisition of Bucherer (retailer) aligns with Rolex being a non-profit.

I will never trust Chinese electric cars for the very same reason China banned Teslas from certain areas in that country. The cars are equipped with cameras and other data gathering tech that can be coopted for different types of intelligence gathering.

I would go even further and say that governments should consider having their own OS. There is no reason why Windows 10 and 11, with their ever increasing number of ads and information sieve, would belong there.

"..Climate disasters, fueled by large-scale, human-driven changes in the global climate, are becoming more frequent. In the past few weeks in Vermont, we've had wildfire smoke from Canada forcing people to stay inside, a heat wave, and now this flooding. And Vermont is a place that is supposedly safer for climate refugees to go. But that's the thing about a global climate crisis: it's going to affect absolutely everyone absolutely everywhere."

This service is not ubiquitous which is something I expect of a search engine. From my perspective the limitations lie with the fact you need to be logged-in to their VPN service in order to use it. Yes, it's a way to ensure that only paid customers can use it. But those paid customers will only be able to use it on their personal devices. Nowhere else. Most if not all work environments block third party VPNs.
