As a former proposal specialist (B2B, B2G, non DoD) I looked into the Genesis Mission procurement site and process.

Unless someone can correct me, the total amount of grant monies is $280,000,000 or so.

It became obvious that it’s not worth my time to engage in the “mission” as they call it, even if I could benefit some worthwhile causes.

That’s a pittance and pretty insulting to the purported benefit of funding scientific endeavors. I’m not even attempting to be political here. $280 Million versus $XX Billion for warfighting is a seriously gross misallocation of public monies, IMHO.

Total lackluster reporting on the scale and scope of the actual numbers, but not surprising.

I’m currently dealing with Verizon Wireless and their “Jabronibot” claiming I have a fictional account balance due. It has been sent to collections, but still is being asked for by their legacy system.

The case studies of “Agents in Billing Departments” and potential shareholder lawsuits / E&O claims / reputational damage will be interesting to me. I worked in “risk management” products years ago and this kind of liability is not easily dollar traded away via contract. Will accountability stick to the Decision Makers or will they try to surrogate to the Service Providers? Hmm.

Better lesson: a LOT of people fancy themselves more creative than they are actually are, and rely on TROPES to the point of CLICHE which is shockingly obvious to actual practitioners.

This is why, nearly without fail, a writer’s First Screenplay is trash. Just…bad. The “I’ve watched a lot of movies so I’ve got this” is basically the stage of AI/LLM output, frontier level, in 2026.

That’s why Seth Rogen said every AI script he’s read was “dogshit.” And to be fair, the majority of human written scripts are dogshit too. It’s not that creativity is dead, it’s that we’re seeing the endgame of ego inflation as a cultural consumerism business model and that’s a problem not easily solved in the short term.

Please note I’m a 30 year guitarist. I have watched, without fail, thousands of postings on CraigsList for instruments purchased by parents or “music lovers” who finally decided to admit they’ll never be able to rise above below mediocrity, and sometimes they even admit it in the post. Learning to play the way I do now? My fingers bled. I had calloused fingertips I could stick a safety pin through. Guess what? Never made minimum wage because “anybody can play guitar” and club owners are scum 90% of the time. No use arguing with me, IYKYK.

An admirable start down a self-discovery path.

One of the major themes I pick up in this piece is an unfortunate, very common, misallocation of mental effort regarding the past-present-future mindset. As in, the described course is simply regarding treatment of symptoms. There is little to no awareness at this point in the journey that the sources of the mental issues may be much deeper than simply imposter syndrome or poor culture fit.

I am not a Psychologist. I am a Writer. Psychology is the invention of a Writer, facts. To write convincing characters or portraits of events, it takes a long and often painful study of the human psyche. When I finally fell into circumstances where I was able to apply this to myself, the process, after years, has resulted in a fundamental change in my own mind. For the better, though it is occasionally foreign or akin to feeling “adrift” in life - such is clarity.

Point being? Looking outside for help is problematic, and “friends and family” were in my situation the actual causes and “negative feedback loops” which had decades long consequences. Only by turning my back on them was I able to identify the nearly subconscious roots of my guilt and shame issues having no valid reason to exist. To the contrary, I found how my life had been quite a reflection of well formed morals, ethics, and principles of a high minded, pragmatic, and good quality of character person.

That’s why AA and friends and family suck as resources. They are unreliable. One does not repair the mind by continuing to engage with others also of a broken nature. Healing happens in solitude. Being unable or unwilling to take this path is the first thing to address in pursuit of real, lasting positive change.

Or, ya know, just take handfuls of pills and keep rowing your boat in the river of denial. Seems to be the way Mormonism keeps its catastrophically delusional dogma in play. Read the experiences of ex-Fundamentalist cast outs or voluntary abandonment.

One must turn their back on the broken culture that broke them to find the truth and spiritual health within. Good luck to all.

I’ve worked with proposals in the past - they’re legally binding when you submit with a price attached. Lawsuits waiting to happen to any company foolish enough to entrust the process to AI. The manual review and corrections will take longer than actually doing the work with a human. Source: used frontier RFP response systems and they were just databases with some find/replace tools.

I scored 1,100 total on my music moniker. It has been used in SoundCloud and also via streaming services/releases via DistroKid. Represented in all the models but of course not disproportionally large fame so to speak. It’s just a very unique setup, somewhat designed to stand out.

My writing account, newer within the past few years, is just under 1,000. The Kimi and DeepSeek pick that up a lot more. I wonder if they train on Medium more than the others…

I interpret the case you mention as a necessary though jarring rebalancing - to the opposite pole - of the sycophantic prior implementations which would, in paraphrasing here, praise the user with framing like “Wow this is a fascinating comparison and you’re on to something that can change the world!” which has been documented (I’m not citing sources at this time, my bad I know).

Uh, are you sure about that claim regarding surveillance over human history? Just because the technology has advanced does not entail the methods or concepts are novel. Quite the contrary in my view: the modern versions are natural evolutions of long traditions and customs. Having “rats” and “moles” reporting on behavior is, I mean, it predates written records of I’m not mistaken.

Answer:

During development, children are in a condition where their fears are predominant. The world is big and scary and they need conditions and support to begin to process their emotions, all of them, into what I consider a “rainbow.” Each should be adjacent to another, as life is best lived with access to and the benefit of each when appropriate circumstances call them from their “library” so to speak.

It’s not “forcing” a child to sit through it, as much as it is “presenting” them with an outside work of art which REFLECTS BACK TO THEM a validation of their experience along different stages of development.

One of the best examples of what I’m talking about is the book “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. It is canon. Perhaps you had shitty parents who didn’t “make you” engage with literature.

An interviewer once asked him “Don’t you think the book is too scary for kids?” His reply lambasted the question with “What is wrong with you? Were you never a child? EVERYTHING IS SCARY TO A CHILD.”

I was a CS major in early 2000s before switching. English. However my tech abilities are what got me the career path - MS Word is powerful, few people learn how to write well, much less with business acumen.

This is now in your neighborhood; it was in mine 5 years ago but NOT blamed on AI. RFP response specialists are a “cost center” of human capital. It’s also a great entry level role to move into a VP role after 3-5 years. Learning the business, warts and all, to help win more.

The Baby Boomer generation cut the path completely. They pocketed the savings or passed it on to investors. Now it’s nearly impossible to get a decent gig in the field - 10 years minimum experience, salary about $80,000 USD maybe, except in Defense.

Go look at how many software “solutions” there are in the RFP space. Software has claimed to be able to do the job, or let one person do the work of three, for a decade now.

I’m not sympathetic to the tools created by this industry now actively realizing “the leopards are eating my face?!” type of situation. Even Senior Devs now will start to face age discrimination or wage suppression. This was written without any AI by the way. I’ve never touched a clanker, my hands are clean.
