Restoring the Amazon would be great locally because it would stabilize the local ecosystem of weather events. I think we should push more on the local benefits of environmentalism.

A single city banning petrol engines is just a blip on the radar, but the sudden embetterment of the air? The sudden removal of noise pollution? The sudden decrease in respiratory illnesses and cancers? That's noticeable to the population, unlike some mysterious "global" phenomenon.

A single town repopulating the local forest is only a blip on the radar, but the increased resilience against floods and landslides? Better air and, better outdoors opportunities? Better local climate? That's noticeable

The price tag: more than $20 billion

20 billion dollars? One would think Brazil has nothing better to do than care for a goddamn jungle. I can think of far better uses for that money.
