It's really unfortunate. I'm currently trying to figure out something in a Makefile and a lot of the answers are on StackOverflow.

FWIW I don't see it being down from here (Europe). And I see "question asked 1 min ago" so it's probably working at least partially.

After 8 years on StackOverflow, I've never seen an unexplained and unanticipated outage like this one. The humor in the twitter feed from 5 hours ago ("We’ve tried unplugging and plugging back in, but that didn’t fix it.") understates the severity of what is happening.

The cost of turnover, all the minted millionaires have left. It's a shame they didn't pay out to the top contributors.
