Microsoft have never pretended to be Good, or to take me seriously. They always treated their users like shit, and counted on the Stockholm Syndrome for future sales.

Unfortunately it hurts users more than Apple and I t won’t discourage users from buying Apple hardware.

So... Microsoft doesn't also scan your OneDrive system for content that shouldn't be on your system?

Would have made sense if the reason was due to supporting closed-source operating systems.

I never used One Drive. And I don't use Windows outside VM's that I only use for software development (with local user accounts).

Apple don't allow me to test my software for MacOS in a VM hosted by Linux. So when I switch off my Mac Pro for good, later today, I can no longer test my code for Mac.

But my motivation is to 'Just Say No!'. It's enough now.

The title would be better if it included the project name, such as "macOS support removed from restc-cpp after Apple privacy announcement"

Yes, it would. Unfortunately I'm a software developer, not a marking guy. This was not a well planned and executed move. It was just what felt I had to do.

Discouraging activism in the open-source realm by branding it as a "temper tantrum" seems counterproductive at best, and quite reductionist at worst.

I don't think it matters if the method used is better than the competition. The main point of contention is: people shouldn't be having their images scanned anyway, especially on their own device.
