In all likeliness probably in a similar place as now. I imagine it will be around 3-5 years before things start changing for the better.

In 2020 because of having to stay at home (with my wife living in the mountains of Central Arizona, kids and grandkids on east/west coasts) I un-retired and am now working for an all remote medical AI company, and I like it a lot. In one year, I will be 70 but I hope to still be contributing to my company.

I worry about the state of the world, especially US/UK/etc. for 2021. I expect the COVID-19 situation to improve but the division of society into those who are doing great economically and those who are suffering will increase.

Before I went back to work I volunteered at my local food bank and met many people who were in poor economic shape, often because of one bad medical event that sucked up all their resources, etc. Politically I am a member of the Libertarian Party, and as is my right, my wife and I choose to spend much of our resources on charities and what we consider just social causes.

My hope for 2021 is that more people in the world raise their consciousness and start caring for other people and turn their backs on shallow materialism.

Probably renting a cheap room near ski resorts and snowboarding because my job became full remote for foreseeable future. There is not much point living in a city when we can't enjoy meeting the people.

Hopefully with the ability to work from home, at least part time. It really improved my quality of life.

This is a great question. I really have no idea.

One thing I wonder is as you get older, do you get better at predicting what will happen / does your life get more predictable?

If you had asked me this question a year ago, I would have said at the end of 2020, I would be living in Boston working as a software engineer for a 3D printing company in the area.

Instead, I'm living in Minneapolis, working for Gumroad, and building my own business.

This is the first time I've had to predict the future, every year prior to this was "I am in year N of X educational institution, next year, I will be in year N+1." So, a difficult year to make predictions for the first time.

How do you make predictions about your own life? I don't mean "you" as a general pronoun but you, the person currently reading this comment.

I’ll be spending much of 2021 scouting new places to live - places that never locked down in 2020. So by the end of 2021 I hope to have decided where to move and living in an apartment there.

Goals:

- Grow my business from $50k to $100k/y

- Grow number of dogs from 1 to 2

- Live a more balanced, healthy lifestyle

- Hang out with friends/family in person again

I would like to move from my SA career to a more slow paced low-level programming, move out of my parent's house to build my one life, with a focus on calmness and an ability to observe world, read more, get stronger and be happy. Gonna read 50 books, do 15 pullups at rep, and work on my metacognition (question more, think more, study myself and meditate).

Also I'm interested in traveling, since I never did that and I'm 22 already. Also I'm fond of music, and I want to work on that more, maybe record something.
