So not only is this the kind of job which a Masters degree get you these days, apparently it is her dream job.

I wonder when Uni's will start advertising with 'Get your masters with us and be sure to become a traveling salesman'.

Obviously it could be worse : one could become a Barista.

"Dude", you only have the job for a year. Why not take a year to see the USA and bring joy before you settle down into a career?

I live in a small town where stuff just doesn't happen.

So the way the marketing works is, I saw it on TV and I assumed there was just one.

So when one is in town it's like "Wow, that thing from the TV is here! That never happens to us!"

And I'm guessing that's the whole point - Make people feel special.

It's less fun now that I'm vegan. Selling meat to children is dystopian. It's like if an oil company had a talking barrel mascot.

I like to think of myself as a car enthusiast, despite not owning one (sold it before covid). Whenever I see any rare, odd, old, or just plain weird car, I get really excited. I'd love to see one of these on the road, but I don't think I'd go out of my way.

A minor off-topic comment but,

and a pack of paper wieners baring her face (“so they could actually picture me as a Hotdogger”)

shouldn't that be "bearing"? unless the paper hot dogs revealed her face hidden behind them, rather than blazoning it prominently. (in the way a document can "bear" someone's signature)

One of these was parked for a day or two outside a hotel across from the office building where (pre-COVID) I worked. Prior to this I wasn't certain if the wienermobile was an urban legend or what. It brings a smile to everyone that sees it.
