Yes, at least for a year. There is a ”external library” feature, I think that does what you want.

I selfhost DNS as well, but I just use plain old bind zone files and it works well enough across a bunch of domains (and RFC2136 for my dynamic IP at home) that I haven't bothered to look into database stored records. I just need to remember the pesky serial number so that the changes get properly replicated :)

Yes, there is functionality to create groups in music assistant. You can even create groups between different types of sinks (so you can combine say Chromecasts together with home assistants media player together with airplay). However, I have not played around with that too much so I don’t know how well the players will sync with each other.

Music - yes, albeit a bit finicky to set up.

There's an addon called Music Assistant that controls the music, you can connect it to your provider of choice (local files, Spotify, etc), and you can let it connect to several types of sinks.

OOB the HA only knows a few commands (pause, next, etc) but there are some community driven effort to improve the support, such as "Play the album Dark side of the moon". [0].

We do have credit scoring, but I don’t think it is in the same sense as in the US though. If you look at ”your” UC (for example using the app Kreddy) you will get a credit score back.

Fun fact: my local store uses different units for the comparisons. Not that you can choose from that many different units, but for example brand A corn flakes comparison price is price/serving while brand B corn flakes is compared by price/kg. Sure, the serving is based on weight but I still need to do some math to figure out which one is cheaper :)

I did something similar, but as I didn’t have access to mains in an easy way (read: close enough to the doorbell) to power the ESP I built a small PSU that took the very unregulated 8VAC from the doorbell transformer into 5VDC (using a rectifier, LM7805 for regulation and some capacitors to smooth everything out). Everything was small enough so I could hide it in the actual doorbell as well!

Yeah. From what I know at least Filmstaden (Swedens biggest cinema chain, owned by AMC) can’t sell a thing right now. No tickets can be sold at all, and no snacks can be sold at the cinema either :(

It makes me so sad to see more companies actively disrupting their own customers usage of the products the customer has bought. Not long ago (not even a month) the Mazda integration was removed due to Mazdas hostility towards their customers.

You can do most of the setup right from the UI nowadays. I rarely resort to yaml-files, and if I do it is because the integration is old (and probably not that many that uses it - I can think of two integrations on top of my head that I needed to configure with yaml, traccar for tracking my bike and my local public transport organization) or it's something really special special (I have a thing that calculates the block of the cheapest two hours every day to schedule my dish washer, that was tricky to do OOB in the UI).

Otherwise it's pretty straight forward nowadays!

I bought a cheap HP Microserver with four 4 TB spinning disks that I placed at a relatives house ~1000 km from where I live. I do nightly replication to the off-site location, with an account on the receiving end that only has enough permissions to create snapshots and receive data, so even if that ssh key somehow got out in the wild things could not be deleted from the remote store. I hope :)

Yes. And the keyboard bindings are also localized, so in Excel in Swedish on would press CTRL-F to make the text bold (F is for "fetstil") and to find one would press CTRL-B, logically for "sök".

(for unaware users, those are exchanged between Excel in English and in Swedish. In english CTRL-F for find, CTRL-B for bold. )
