SVG is scalable, if you have a vector-graphic that is a clear advantage. For pixel-graphics PNG is better. A downside is, that the Internet Explorer supports SVG only with the coming version 9 (before with plugin). Mobile browsers may also have limited support for SVG.

I would say PNG simply for the fact it seems to be a more accepted format than SVG.

Nope, you're wrong. <b> is actually still being used to differentiate between <strong>. <strong> is used for accessibility reasons (making the words enunciate with emphasis, while <b> just makes the words bold by default). If you want to bold a part of the sentence without having emphasis, you'll need to use <b>.

You should not design your website to have so many borders because a container inside a container inside another container just looks really odd. Although it may look good at first, from a fresh eye's perspective, it is very clunky.

Man, I love bootstrap. Not only is it pretty well design from the front end and back end. The less files that are architected are awesome, I wouldn't have thought of it on my own. The guys built it for full customization for advance programmers and dead simple for beginners. Keep up the good work!

The only disadvantage to this is that all startups are now 'lazy' and begin using bootstrap default theme colors and styles -- which makes all website look the same. I'm not sure whether I feel that we're losing creativity for people who want to play with colors or we're losing the ability to actually code up some CSS to make things pretty. (Just my opinion).

Dropping support for IE7 was a good idea. I believe that is the next browser we're killing after IE6, right? After all, who keeps versions of browser these days? I mean I lost count when Chrome updates for me -- and Firefox is on rapid release (18) now. I can't keep up remember all these numbers and browsers!

As pointed out in the previous post, you should not rely 100% on Facebook as your Auth gateway. You should have an alternative for your users to login in case of something like this happens.

I totally agree with this. I don't understand why you would want to translate MongoDB to MySQL for? What are the advantages to doing a full data dump? There's an overhead converting from MySQL to MongoDB as the two formats are completely different. What about the edge cases when one format doesn't support the other.

Why people love large screens because:

1) It's easier to see and read. Especially for kids and elderly people. 2) Bigger is better right? Almost like a cultural thing. You can show off to your friends! 3) Now you don't have to pinch zoom in anymore because everything should be readable without any action. Save some time, especially when you're driving -- which also makes the GPS more feasible.

Depression has different stages. Sometimes it's easy to get out of depression. I'm sure we all experience it at our "low" points during different stages of our lives. From failing a startup or death of a family member.

The depression that we can't get out of alone -- when we lose all hope for everyone -- that's the hardest to fight. Losing your will to live can quickly lead to suicide. And it's hard to tell from someone else's perspective that you're suicidal because you've pushed everyone away.

I think the only cure to the second form of depression is to practice a healthy state of mind everyday. Enjoy life and friends that are close to someone. Always share your problems with a close person (someone you truly trust). You must have the will to live. Giving up isn't the answer to all your problems because someone else will have to inherit your problems. Which isn't fair for that someone!

I'm not going to register with my information, and here's why:

1) I don't know what this website is, and why it's collecting my information. Where's the credibility? Now people can use this "open source software" and can modify the where the endpoints are. I'm a little bit worried than anyone who has malicious intent can alter the code.

2) Why isn't it even requiring HTTPS/SSL? I don't want anyone to intercept my sensitive information, especially with someone that can just dump the code anywhere and pretend to be an "official" voter registration. Take that demo app for example.

I know this post was meant for something good, but I feel security measurements are not its strongest points. And I must petition for more security when the app involves with sensitive information that can be collected by any 3rd party website. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
