Of course lots of AWS services have hidden dependencies on us-east-1. During a previous outage we needed to update a Route53(DNS) record in us-west-2, but couldn't because of the outage in us-east-1.
I would occasionally manage to start a bash shell without executing my profile, which means HISTFILESIZE is not set and bash would truncate my history on the first command I ran. zsh history may have a similar problem.
if a card is in the Done column, you can assume the
code is in version control, deployed to production
and checked to make sure it didn't explode on impact.
I guess you've never seen a team argue over "Definition of Done" for months.
Not quite the same, but you may own CA taxes on stock options if you earned them while living in CA even if you don't live there when you cash them in.
No, actually they don't. In the time I've been there they've 10x the size of the company. Maintained majority control through multiple rounds of funding. Significantly increased salaries. Provided a great work life balance. Etc.
Why are developers obsessed with how many additional developers they could hire with hypothetical savings?
So you saved, $28,400 a month. Did that make a material difference to the company? I often tell people above me I could save us $10k a month at AWS and generally the response is, "Yeaaaaaaah that's great, could you do XYZ instead to help us land an additional $1M in ARR?"
No, they ratified the amendment which had already abolished slavery, a purely symbolic act. The ratification was unanimous so it's not like there was any opposition to it in 1995.
Gold has a couple other things going for it. It's difficult to counterfeit, anything denser than it is more expensive(and usually radioactive). Tungsten is close enough to be a viable alternative, but is very difficult to work with, so this is only a modern (1980s on) problem. Additionally it is "appropriately" rare. Try using sand as a currency, you'll need a fleet of dump trucks. You can transport a significant amount of gold on your person, but if you tried that with Californium you would probably lose the dust sized particle that represents your life's savings.
You entirely missed the point of my comment when I said
I have never used FaceBook [sic] login for anything
That was in response to someone saying you could avoid this by not using Facebook login. Maybe before calling out others' naïveté you should work on your reading comprehension.
