I have been using Addic7ed [0] in cases where I need subtitles. Any new shows/series get their subtitles uploaded extremely fast, and as I understand translations also happen there (when already not available from a streaming service).

On the other hand I was using VLSub, a VLC addon, which downloads subtitles automagically. But now I see it used opensubtitles :(

Issue is solved. The context for anyone interested from one of Scaleway Engineers [1]:

To give some context, there are a lot of possible path between Cloudflare and Scaleway : France IX in Paris, NL IX in Paris and in Amsterdam, AMS IX in Amsterdam, and the transit in both region (Cogent, Lumen, Arelion). Cloudflare is announcing some prefixes only on some of these links.

We were trying to find the root cause since Monday morning, but as we did not have any errors visible on our side, it was pretty hard to identify the faulty path.

Another fun fact from Scaleway CTO is that Cloudflare started answering ... just ~30 minutes ago. [2]

Hopefully not because of this submission, some more updates started flowing on the Scaleway side [1], but nothing solving the issue.

The are some workarounds (from Marco@ [2])

moving workload out of scaleway to other datacenters and keeping all cloudflare CDN and features working perfectly (seems to be affecting exclusively scaleway/online.net)

disabling all cloudflare features (DNS only) (some people can’t do it as cloudflare could be integral part of webapps flow and servings)

But applying those can't be done in all cases (i.e. disables Cloudflare WAF, CDN, etc.).

Based on discussions with friends who have been medalists from International Olympiads more than once, there is no need of any real linguistic knowledge.

General knowledge of language groups may be helpful, but often the problems were for some language used from <1k people. And usully you wouldn't have heard them at all, or would not have additional information where it is spoken.

Well, when talking about NATO countries, MIGs and older aircrafts - Romania and Croatia still operate MIG-21s [1] :)

Didn't have issues with the starting the trial on FF 61 Beta, with uBlock and Privacy Badger enabled.

The service looks fairly good, but the speeds are not impressive. It looks Azure is used (and you can test your speed on it here http://www.azurespeed.com/Azure/UploadLargeFile)

Using gitlab.com with a group of ~20 devs - one of the main complains some of them had was 'It is slow'. From the last few months I hear more and more 'It is not so slow now, same as github'. So good job on all the performance improvements, users can feel them.

So it really depends how long in the past you are talking about :)

I managed to fool it by hand movements (up and down and bending my fingers), so for sure no face needed.

It was not totally down for me, but really buggy on browsing/uploading/etc. (on a non GSuite account)

Regarding if upstream service is needed for bandwidth usage history, as it needs computing power - well not at all. DD-WRT has basic banding report by days of month for close to 10 years [0]. I'm personally using it for 5+ years on a 20$ TP-Link and it just works, without the need of an external service.

Some of my experience and solution to those issues

1) UptimeRobot [0] - use to monitor various client websites. The free plan checks every 5 minutes, which should be enough. Notifications can be sent to email, slack, sms and many others. If you think there may be a problem only from some locations make a fast check with [1]. If you suspect DNS issues [2] or [3].

2) Again use UptimeRobot for monitoring device publicly accessible from your network. Moreover, if you are in control of your office network, using pfSense [4] notifications when a network gateway goes down works well (still, that works only if you have 2 or more ISPs). Or use a dedicated monitoring device/service like Zabbix.

3) Using to Twitter to Slack notification, subscribe for updates from both services that you use and major services responsible for Internet backbone. An example is, that using GitLab, comes with multiple time when the service dies (even that they are improving) - seeing the message in Slack that something is WIP currently by all team members (in a dedicated channel), helps to skip unnecessary debugging [5] :)

This is not encryption - you should change the copy to tell what encryption is used (AES-128 from the info here), even if it's beta. Some more information on that will be welcome.
