What’s their motivation to build tools like uv and ruff? What’s their business model?

Windsurf has plugins for Jetbrains products, for vim, for emacs, for Visual Studio (not code), XCode, and even eclipse. They try to get as much of the market as possible, while Cursor focuses on the core functionality.

Whenever I tried Windsurf Editor, or their plugin for vim, and Intellij, it didn't feel polished at all. The basic function of autocomplete felt much much snappier on Cursor, and even on GitHub Copilot for vim/intellij.

How do I short this

What are they marketing?

I think this is exactly what’s going to happen with “super smart unsafe AI”. If it’ll be abused and overused like this, people will just stop tuning in to those media sources where AI can easily dominate.

AI dominates instagram space? Why bother scrolling through it? It’s not interesting anymore. AI dominates online media? Why bother getting your information online?

Really cool! Why did you decide to start working on it? Because you wanted something simpler than what already exists, or just curiosity?

Obsidian works well on all systems. It has folders, markdown notes, and cloud sync. Switched to it from Bear because of Linux and quite happy.

Can you elaborate why the string theory could be considered dogma? I guess it's somehow related to the way it ways discovered/proposed, but I don't know much about it.

Where does one start with such thing? I mean, where do I read how to emulate CPU (or at least how CPU works, so I would be able to come up with how to emulate it by myself), how does PS/2 work, how to boot an image from BIOS?

Second that. I tried to use ELK stack for application logs but it felt too windows-ish. I had to use my mouse and a lot of mouse-clicking to find what I needed. I was happy at my previous job when we had a single log-server which we ssh-ed to and got access to logs from all machines via NFS. It wasn't the fastest way to examine logs but it was very comfortable using all these grep, awk, sed, cut and etc tools.

How do you guys communicate while working remotely?

At my current job we have daily two daily meetings (in the morning and in the evening) where everyone tells what he's done or we discuss something with a whole team. These meetings lock us to particular schedule and make traveling hard. I'd like to suggest my boss to get rid of these daily meetings but I don't know with what to replace them.

I have started using it few months ago and I like it. Mostly because I can read hacker news as pragmatically as I have been reading google reader. I don't need to visit home of HN several times a day to find out if there is any new posts. I just open hckrnews.com and I see what have been posted since my last visit.
