From my experience free trumps paid unless the paid app is promoted by apple/lots of blogs. You may get more return users with a paid app (since they shelled out the cash they will probably want to get their money's worth) but if you're trying to build a user base and especially if your app relies on one, which yours seems to, free is the way to go.

You always have (at least) two options in life when it comes to hard experiences.

1) Allow yourself to wallow in your failure and keep yourself there by constantly focusing on the negatives of what happened.

2) Focus on the experience that you had. Think about what you learned, good and bad. And use that to help you form your path towards the future.

I know it sounds really cliche to say that "failing often" can lead to success, but I have known many people who have gotten laid off or failed miserably at something and instead of dwelling on the fact that they were a failure, they bounced up and took the lessons they learned to do something different or change directions in their life or career.

Personally, I've also had a few experiences with failure that devastated me at the time, but after a few days of mind numbing woe is me, I picked myself up and did something about it and I am much more successful now than I was back then because I reflected on what happened in those instances and it helped me redirect my efforts.

So cliche or not, your attitude matters and if you start focusing on what you've learned instead of what you've lost I'm sure you'll bounce back.

Yes, this is something we're still working on and hope to improve in subsequent versions. Most coloring book apps only allow you to fill or paint and if you are able to fill the number of areas is pretty low. We decided to go for doing everything and although it's working well (we think) we're continually seeking ways to improve the speed in that area.

What a great use of a neglected space. Really inspiring project. It'd be great to do a timelapse of people writing on the wall. The variety of people would be interesting to see.

I'm working on an iphone/ipad app for kids. It's a silly thing just a coloring book but we're trying to make it better than anything else out there interface-wise and we're experimenting with in-app purchases and a bunch of other ios features. It's my first app that i've worked on from concept to execution so its pretty exciting to me.
