I really wanted to give this a legitimate try but even following the installation instructions to the letter, it bricked my Windows install and I had to spend a few hours fixing the MBR, Bootloader, etc. I'm sure it would be a breeze using a separate physical drive but that'll be a project for another day.

Bazzite does look very promising and happy to see innovation in the Linux gaming world!

The explicit goal was to disrupt congressional proceedings as part of a plan to overturn election results.

And then what? Once the mob was cleared out, they would have resumed. There's a chasm between disrupting proceedings and actually taking over a country. The latter also almost always involved having control of the military by the way.

I find it really sad how politics has slowly invaded HN over the past year. And also how anyone with a dissenting opinion has to post with throwaway accounts that will inevitably turn light grey.

Unfortunately, I only see things getting worse from here. It seems inevitable when observing other internet communities that gradually devolved into being pervaded by partisanship and identity politics.

Hopefully a new site comes along at which point the cycle will start over...

Happy New Year HN 6 years ago

Happy new year!

Here's to doing a better job of keeping politics off HN in the future. This starts with the users.

Thank you to the mod(s) for their best efforts.

As a part of online banking, being able to spawn temporary pseudo accounts, where I could transfer, say $150 a month over 6 months to cover an upcoming one time payment of an auto premium for example.

You would get the benefit of prepayment discounts and an accurate financial picture when looking at your main account.

I think some semblance of this exists for certain online banks but I have enough momentum with my current bank that I wouldn't switch just for that.

Edge has been a near-perfect experience for me on Windows 10. I was a massive FF user for over a decade and the only thing I miss is Gesturefy.

Yes? Its an even better experience because there's rarely a line and the clerk is usually polite.
