Agree that there's more subjective than objective in best practices. That said, there's nothing wrong with developing and publishing best practices. The fault is in those who turn them into a rigid "bible", rather than food for thought.

There's nothing wrong with networking, but effective networking comes out of genuine interest in other people, not out of self-serving opportunism.
