No, imo $99/month is extremely high. I pay Google $40 and Slack the same. They do a lot more data crunching and traffic. To get me as a customer, I need yearly payment that is not based on my profits. I am willing to pay anything below $240/year

I had a contractor working for me who came and openly talked about this with me. After digging into the problem more, we found it is about the chemistry of the team and he was not getting along with their manager. He changed the job, got a lower pay and life continued fine for him. The point here is to identify the trigger than eliminate it.

Salt has much nicer configs and feels supeior to Ansible. The main disadvantage that I had with salt was the need to have a salt master server. I read that this is no longer needed but I have not tried it myself. Keeping secrets outside of the repo was not trivial task, ansible has an easy way to encrypt secrets.

I love the product. I am sure most people don't want to allow direct connections to their databases. I haven't used the software so it might put a lot of load on my database that the server is not able to handle. It will be best if I can import a SQL dump and then use the software on a copy of my data. The alternative right now is to run a separate server just so I can try out the software.

The article says that the $1k is for all 5000 of their employees. I doubt all of them have a laptop that they take home and most laptops already include a decent microphone and camera. The budget definitely does not target buying a laptop or desktop computer. It has to be for accessories like a chair, desk, scanner+printer.

I like the idea and I would like to use the product but the pricing needs to target more than large enterprises. $3,360 as a starting price is more than I am willing to invest. For 10 users, I pay $1,620.40/annually to use Jira + Slack + GitHub.

Been there done that. I would take a different route. I will start with one application and make it easy for a developer to install and run it on their computer, ideally with some dummy data. Price it as free to use, you will get tones of users. These users will need a way to get these local applications to a staging and to a production servers. Thats where you charge money and you control the entire cycle. Pulling and pushing data between live and staging sites is where the demand is and there are not many easy to use solutions.
