Framework plans to eventually support coreboot, as far as I am aware. (Or open source the current one they purchased). It just wasn't the main priority. They focused on making a repairable laptops ecosystem first. Switching to different firmware later isn't ruled out.

I mean, this strongly has to depend on what kind of software you are developing. I don't know a single developer who primarily uses Windows. Literally everyone around me uses Linux for development work (and a large portion of them also use Linux for their personal machines).

Oil is how Russia funds their war-machine. Bombing refineries makes it harder and less sustainable to keep the war going. It's not about making civilians suffer when you literally need to pressure the enemy into stopping the war by blowing up their infrastructure.

Nuclear power plants only have a high upfront cost, which is compensated by their long lifetime of 60-100 years. Other energy sources also have high upfront production costs + you need to spend additional money on infrastructure for batteries/storage.

I also don't understand your argument on military targets. A NPP is a target the sane way a solar park, wind-park, geothermal facility or whatever would be a target. And to add to that, wile they are of course not indestrctible they are extremely robustly built. You can literally fly an airplane into them and it wouldnt result in a meltdown.. I do agree on your point on decentralization, yes.

You need secure hardware to have secure software.

I wish it would have support for Zigbee so I can pair it with other open data aggregation systems like Home Assistant. AirGradient, another cool air quality monitor, for example, does not have this.

The UI looks nice, but feature wise, I think I would rather go with Firefly III. It is a lot more complete.

Looks very interesting to me. There are a couple of features that are especially important to me.

- Good accuracy sleep tracking

- GPS ( I know this uses up a lot of battery but could be off by default)

- Self-hostable servers. (I'm a very privacy conscious person, and also I don't want to be bound to an ecosystem that might disappear one day)

I'm gonna keep an eye on this project. It really looks very interesting. I hope it gets far.

Self-hosted FreshRSS. Simple and reliable. It just works.

For me it is the excellent tooling. Great package management, good compiler errors, automatic formatting and enforcing if guidelines etc.

You can't lol. How do you wanna restore a blown fuse on nanometer level INSIDE the GPU die. Its simply not possible.

By the way, AMD also uses fuse blowing if you e.g. overclock some of their CPUs to mark them as warranty voided. They give you a warning in the BIOS and if you resume a fuse inside the CPU gets blown that will permanently indicate that the CPU has been used for overclocking (and thus remove the warranty)

I still think it would be so much better if they have a version that uses ZigBee for data exchange. Lower battery usage, and no need to worry that someone gets your WiFi password when they steal the device.

If the device worked with ZigBee, I would get it immediately. However, it seems to support only WiFi, which means if someone gains physical access to the AirQuality monitor (which isn't exactly difficult since it is placed outside), they can potentially extract the WiFi password and gain full access to my network.

Can't you enroll your own keys?
