These are not scammers, it's probably an amateur researcher which published that information in a blog which is usually read by no-one. Probably it wasn't even meant to be public. But because of the prestige of the domain, it becomes first in relevant searches.

Exactly the same here! What a memory. In my case, my fellow students started sending broadcast messages which included a lot more profanity. They reached the computer of the school principal, which immediately came to our lab asking for explanations. Lucky for me, the teacher was a great guy who just knew I was the one that started all that mess, but he didn't say a word.

I also remember writing .bat fork bombs during the pauses. My classmate would pick a victim and while they were away I would completely freeze their PC. Yes, silly. And don't get me started on the remote shutdown messages, again enabled by default.

Instead of doing anything fancy, my program generates the coefficients at random to explore the space. If I wanted to generate a good driver for a course, I’d run a few thousand of these and pick the coefficients that complete the course in the shortest time.

It is worth pointing out that this strategy can likely overfit on the data that you have used for training: when you change the track, your car may not behave as good as before. In other words: the coefficients are only good for that specific track(s).

I can visualize to a limited extent, i.e. I can see anything I want but images are always very "unstable". I'm much better with music: I can listen to music in my head very clearly, even though there is a strong focus on the lead melody (e.g. voice, guitar). I didn't say that ads are great. I said that NOT ALL ads are bad, and without them some great content couldn't exist, because most people need funds for their work and selling stuff or services sometimes isn't an option.

So if you're talking about tracking ads, I'm totally with you. But if you're talking about ALL ads, then your idea may be an utopia.

If one doesn't want to break the web, they shouldn't block ads since most of the web is free thanks to ads.

I use a blacklist approach and only block ads on those websites which clearly have no consideration for usability (popups, autoplaying videos, ...) or for privacy.

I have found that Unlock Origin is great for this approach.

While I fully agree with you, being Turing complete has nothing to do with it. I think the article is slightly wrong too on this point.

Turing completeness is a property about the computational "power" of a language. It has nothing to do with the environment in which the program runs. For example, it can exist a language that is Turing complete and has no way at all to access the network: it can do no harm, doesn't matter if it has the same computational power as Javascript.

But if you want to be a skilled front-end software engineer, it's in your interest to tackle these tools with some zeal.

I guess what we are saying is that there must be a better, not yet invented way to do frontend, without having to deal with this huge complexity that is unique to this specific field.

I think you (and others) are misunderstanding the purpose of the big-O notation. It is used to discuss about algorithms, not about their implementation.
