Great question. Something like you suggest could help. I definitely think it's possible to do better, because some of the apps have a lot fewer fake profiles/scammers compared to say, Tinder.

I think there isn't enough incentive for some of them (again, Tinder) to bother. If enough people stop using them, maybe they will incentivized to do better.

If you pay to subscribe, that does nothing to help with scammers, I promise you.

That must be specific to your market. That's not what I'm seeing in the Denver area, speaking as someone who has been casually looking for a house for over a year.

As soon as interest rates started rising, conditions went from what you describe, to, in a lot of cases, houses sitting weeks or months on the market. They go through, sometimes, multiple prices drops before going under contract.

I'm speaking specifically of homes that are in the range of those I'm considering purchasing, so maybe it doesn't apply to the overall market. For me, though, it is now much more of a buyer's market than it was a year ago.

This is my complaint as well. On multiple pairs, the microphone becomes unreliable after some number of months. If I'm lucky, it's within the warranty period.

You're right, I misinterpreted what you were saying, and the explanation I described does not address that.

An explanation I've heard is while people might support an issue, as shown in polling, they don't feel very strongly about it compared to other issues. In that sense, many (most?) opinion polls are not predictive of voting in any significant sense.

I took two sabbaticals last decade, the first 6 months and the second about a year.

After the last, I started a new job full time for about a year, after which I transitioned to working just Monday - Wednesday (8 hour days). I'm in year 4 of this schedule. For me, I think this works better than full time and occasional sabbaticals. I have not approached anything near burn out.

In my experience, it stays on.
