Yea that's scary. I was in a similar situation, but thankfully they just interrogated me for 5 hours and then sent me back to Canada.
My name was marked from that point, so everytime I re-entered US I had to get pulled into secondary.
Maybe it's time to move to open source solutions (*nix), with custom security/audit measures.
Might be very expensive initially, but then they'd have complete control.

Right, and who do you think will pay for this new tax? It's definitely not the importers and exporters - it's the end customers, because everything will go up in price. They're not going to absorb those fees.
The only ones making money here is the EU governments imposing this.
I'm starting to think that's my go-to now - I need to either focus on smaller companies, where I can feel like I'm contributing to actual change. Whereas in the bigger companies I worked at, it felt like I wasn't actually doing anything, just because it was a constant struggle with politics and 'how' or 'what' things should/can be done.
If I can find a company that will just let me program and be where I want to be, in my own element, that may bring me back to my original point of happiness.
You're absolutely right - the pure excitement that I felt at the beginning was mainly because I could do all the hacky, simple things. Nowadays you have to write 3 million tests before you can write any real code. I just feel like the red tape involved in doing anything is ridiculous.
I mean, I don't want to completely dismiss testing, but it was a big part of the reason I started moving away from development, and more into the DevOps realm. The other big problem is working for medium/large companies, which require so much administrative overhead to get anything done.

Yeah, I started building camper vans (from cargo vans) for the past few years, and I've really enjoyed it. I got the same excitement I had when I was really enjoying technology.
Carpentry was a huge part of the builds, so it's something I have strongly considered doing more professionally. I actually thought about building my own lumber mill as well!

I don't really care about the 5g phones. The difference is that I can choose not to buy them, and it won't affect my life at all.
Everyone has their own opinions. In my mind, it's not a 'small risk'.
This has nothing to do with other countries - I'm talking about Canada not allowing ANYONE (with very few exemptions) from leaving the country on flights, boats, trains. I wouldn't be going to other countries that don't want the 'unvaccinated'.
I don't blame you for being brainwashed by your own government into thinking one side is evil. All you have to do is listen to all the false news from the media outlets, and you'll be indoctrinated day after day. All governments and the media are doing is pinning people against each other, nothing more.

We still have no definitive proof of what will happen in the next 5-10 years to people that have taken the vaccine. Just because someone said that there is nothing that can happen based on the science, doesn't mean it's definitive - it's just conjecture.

They are pinning one side against the other, and it's propelled by the government.
You can't even search COVID related terms in Google without it being regulated. Try searching anything related to anti-vax. They have pushed up all the government sites at the top of the rankings for any searching that have the word COVID in it. Things are bonkers.

We know nothing about the long term effects of this vaccine, or how it will affect our bodies when it comes to dependencies. I understand that millions have taken it, but that still doesn't show me any long term tests.
So I'm selfish because I want to protect myself and my family from something that I don't trust? I'm not anti-vax - we have all our shots. If after say 5 years, it turns out that there are no long term side effects, then I'm fine taking the vaccine.
I can work anywhere, as I work completely remote. We have thought about places like Mexico; but how do we get there?

Pro-life not pro-tyranny! Forcing people to take a vaccine that was rolled out almost immediately, without due process is not protecting anything.
I'm not saying it doesn't work, but it's not a silver bullet, and only time will tell if it's safe.
Why not accept their decision not to take the vaccine? I think this is a choice - it shouldn't be mandated by the government. These vaccines are at best experimental - I'm not saying they don't work, but I am not confident enough in them to take the shot. After they've been used for a few years, and I see that there are no adverse effects, I'm fine taking it (if needed).
I'm not about the conspiracy theories, but I don't just jump on every bandwagon that comes along. I don't care how many have already taken it. Time will tell if it's safe.
If your counter argument is that they have been tested and doctors and other professionals have stated that there is no way of adverse effects in the future, then why is everyone signing a release before taking the shot, freeing all parties of legal action? Nobody will take responsibility if something happens to you from this shot, but they want to mandate it. Interesting.
I'm concerned that this might also remove referrer codes; unless it's smart enough to distinguish. I imagine some of them might be quite cryptic.

I'm also interested to find out what employers in the US think. Would you still consider resume's that come from Canadians? I seem to remember it being easier to get responses (before Trump). Has the climate changed? This is geared more towards the technical space.
Is this serious? Obviously, it's to make it easier to read. Reading a wall of code that's not syntax colored in a textbook is mind numbing.
