I think the point to be gleaned from this article is not "start a business and then retire on the proceeds from its sale." As the article states, people aren't buying businesses at a rate that makes that a sensible strategy.
The more immediate benefit of owning/starting a business "at age" is to create employment for yourself, when employment pickings are very thin for older workers.
Bad that the recession has destroyed retirement funds and people have to work longer. Worse that those same people may not find work at all due to age related factors. One solution is to create a job for yourself.
Does Zuckerberg disagree that the effect would be something like this?

I was pretty pissed to realize that my Epic, that cost as much as a small PC, would not likely enjoy updates for very long, certainly not the life of the phone.
Coincidentally, because of my personal recession I've backgraded to an old feature phone I had, and no data plan. And I'm of a mind to just stand pat when my personal economic recovery kicks in. I feel like an idiot paying that much for a phone with a short support life (and CM does not support that phone), and a horrendously expensive data plan.

Excellent advice, often ignored. To your comment, I would add that you shouldn't limit your problem to something small or "doable." List and describe as grandiose a problem as interests you, then carve out a piece of that problem whose scope is appropriate for your project.

I don't have much problem with the "attack," which mainly lists Portman's public information.
But his children are innocents and vulnerable, and it's beyond the pale to involve them. People with an interest in this issue are not the only people who read the web. Sometimes knowing a name is all you need to social engineer a crime.
Don't do this, it's wrong.

I have flashblock turned on. vtunnel is full of flash, and does some sort of not-a-popup popup at the beginning, with nothing but flash in it.

Never heard of it, just tried it. I can see this ending up being my favorite browser, if I can peel off the time to figure out bookmarks. If I understand, the answer is "manage them yourself," which is mostly thrilling if slightly off-putting. I'll try to get to that soon.
I would like the ability to access and manipulate all of "my" browser data in a pipelined command line environment similar to a shell. I want to be able to easily get at all my bookmarks, tabs, plugins, tabs, the dom, history, cookies, super cookies, megalomaniacal cookies, etc, i.e. everything that changes the browser due to my actions, and list it, count it, query it, twist it and tease it.
I'd like that data and environment to be available from within the browser, and bonus points if I could easily get at it from a traditional [[t]c|k|z|da|ba]sh shell.
And I'd rather use a shell-like language, not javascript, but if javascript were the only way to do this then hell yeah I'd use it.
If the jackal is breaking your windows you'll probably do something direct and immediate to defend yourself. If it's slinking just beyond the tree line you might decide to put another log on the fire and sip hot chocolate.
Probably the trailer, as we think of it in the movies, is too expensive. Trailers are shown to and amortized across a national audience, and I assume are placed in front of movies where the audience will have a positive response.
That said, I see static local ads in the discount theaters. I suppose a theater owner would show any ad that was paid for, but most movie theaters are chains and probably make large deals for the trailers, just like they do for the movies.

Then you either go to another bank, or maybe you don't get the loan from any bank. If you don't get the loan, you change your plans to save up cash, or you change your goals.
Either most people will go along with this (likely), or banks will have to decide if a smaller loan pie is good business.
And they would have nothing pushing them to be the best birds, so it would be pretty unpleasant.

Amazon, Google et al. have discovered that millions of ears of corn will line up to be harvested. Virtually none leaves voluntarily.

Anything on TV more widely available than public access is, almost by definition, mainstream. Even the non-mainstream shows are mainstream, their selling point being that they're "non-mainstream."
If a show doesn't make big dollars for the network, it doesn't get on in the first place. Almost everything you see and touch today is mainstream, and if you think it isn't, it's because it's been marketed to you as non-mainstream.
It's every federal employee's role, including the TSA and Congress, by the oath they take to protect and defend the constitution. The military, as well as some state employees, all take similar oaths. It's job number one.
