If you put black tape over the light, it will not allow you to turn on the camera, however, I believe someone found a hack that said if you started recording and then put black tape over the recording, it would allow you to continue to record, but only for 3 minute increments.

Longtime Spotify user here. I was part of the beta all the way back in 2013. I switched to Apple Music this year alongside an app that syncs the daily playlists with Apple Music.

I feel like as time goes on, the Apple Music playlist recommendations are getting better and better, but what kept me with Apple Music was actually the integrate with Sonos. I have the Arc, Sub and 2 Era 500s, and the spatial audio tracks are incredible. It reminds me of a time I used to just sit back and listen to music in my room as a kid, always discovering something new about a track that I never really hear.

This could be potentially really dangerous. Most Okta customers who would use support would be IT admins. This is a pretty good list to start social engineering to get more information from other customers just by calling or emailing IT members impersonating corporate end users.

On average, the CS grads we hire are so much further along in their journey than a bootcamp dev, yet the starting salary asks are about the same. I know there are some organizations that are a bit more desperate for anyone who has the capacity to learn to code, but we also have been exclusively hiring CS grads with far better results.

The biggest reason has to with cost. The average consumer does not need to take out a loan to buy a phone, but most do for cars. Cars are seen as a large investment that needs added protection, and instead of doing it at the auto manufacturer level, they added dealerships to serve as middlemen to bargain with auto makers on your behalf.

Lots of comments here are talking about lowering paywall site search results since you can not view them, however, I would actually consider raising them. Free content in journalism has a race to the bottom mentality when it comes to content quality. Free content often is incredibly bias or does not actually do any research. This gets you a lot of “fake news” that can spread like wildfire.

Having papers that are more reputable by having a sustainable business model that allows them to produce better quality content, to me would be worth it over fake news sites.

No joke, I created an iOS app a few years back that had a web view with a built in search bar and was told I needed to mark my app as 18+ because users could search for inappropriate content. My appeal was denied.

I can think of a few. An app might need to know if Twitter is installed so it can show a button to open a link in twitter or a web browser (This was before App Deeplinking was a thing). Maybe if an app company had multiple apps that it wanted to cross sell and see if they have both apps installed to enable certain functionality.

My guess is that they will say "no", but in reality, probably yes. My AirPods Pro case will demagnetize hotel keys fairly easily, especially ones that have been rewritten to multiple times.

Is it possible that Apple will include both Intel x86 as well as AX processors? Let the A chip handle certain tasks that are low power to be energy efficient and the Intel chip handle everything else? They did something similar with the Touch Bar.

I wonder if, as self driving technology becomes more prevalent and more of these "hacks" become dangerous, if some federal laws around spoofing cars and using objects to influence an autopilot system become major felonies.

This is really hard to believe. An engineer who found this bug at Apple would most likely be praised for finding it. It is a huge discovery. What motivation would he have to not tell his manager?

Calling apple support and raising hell until someone makes a mistake is more social engineering than email address security vulnerability.

Apex Up does something very similar along these lines.

Spotify has an ads product. Everyone knows they are collecting the data. It would be foolish to think otherwise. Using it in advertising serves an added benefit of helping their ad sales team tell the story of how much data they have and how they can use it to help target the correct audience.

I used to be an avid supporter of kickstarter in 2013-14, however, I've experienced too many products which over promise and under deliver.

Now, I would rather pay the 10% more for a product after reviews come out than be an early adopter because in the long run it saves me money from buying bad quality products.

I think a lot of people are starting to realize this, and kickstarter itself is losing credibility.
