This also results in a relatively large number of IT consulting companies, many of which specialize in public sector service bidding. Certain large consultancies winning most of the bids and then under-delivering has pretty much become a meme at this point.

Interesting observation. I wonder if the number of upvotes depends more on the quality of the article or the quality of comments. I have to admit that even here, I personally didn't even open the article but rather went straight to the comments.

Thanks (especially for name dropping Quandl)! Using the data for investing was actually a major source of inspiration for the idea and I'll look into it, although packaging it nicely might be an issue.

I've noticed I have been doing a lot of "site:news.ycombinator.com <topic>" searches on Google lately and thought I would compile what I find on this website. It is hosted on Github and contributions are welcome.

Obviously there is a lot of editorial bias in selecting the answers for a Q&A collection like this, but hopefully direct links to the source comments and the public nature helps alleviate these concerns a bit. The main objective of the website is to be interesting to quickly skim through or to serve as the minimal start point for research in a given topic.
