SEEKING WORK - Thailand, East Asia, EU or Remote

Croatian developer living in Thailand.

I'm specialised at performance and reliability optimisation, security hardening, and debugging. Got experience taking projects from prototype and MVP to full products and services. Can take over and finish abandoned projects. Task and process automation is a pure joy to me. So is data scraping.

PHP (vanilla, Laravel, WordPress, Magento, SugarCRM, NextCloud), JS (vanilla, VueJS, Node, Ember, Angular), Python (vanilla, Django, Flask, Selenium, Pandas), Ruby (vanilla, Rails) is tech I'm most versed at.

My timezone is Indochina Time, but I'm fine working in any timezone.

PHP is not going away anytime soon. The only downside, it has no use beyond web. If you're new to programming, no. Better focus on Python, Node, Go, Java, or even JavaScript. There's still a strong and in certain niches growing demand for PHP, but definitely not suitable for a beginner, as lots of that work involves maintaining and / or upgrading legacy code.

See a therapist, first and foremost.

You got plenty of choices, luckily. None being escapist neither implying you having to back down as some of the answers here imply, though there were some valuable advices you were given. All choices and solutions basically revolve around not working at a corporation. Join a small company, go contracting / freelancing. They do imply short term discomfort, bear a certain level of risk, yet they yield great dividends.

You're a great human being! I love you, and I don't know you. Get Jake first and foremost appropriate mental health treatment.

Speaking of housing. Offer him a hand with housing or put conditions on his stay at your premises.

Some mean spirited, empathy deprived, sociopathic comments in here are not deserving of being answered to. I genuinely feel sorry for comment posters.

Starbucks coffee sucks and it's overpriced. As someone who patronises it, I go for cheapest brew, Americano

Starbucks does not compete with local coffee shops, neither with premium chains. They target different markets, serve different needs and got different business models

When do I patronise Starbucks? When I get tired of working from wherever I happen to work from and while on the road. Also I use it as a hangout spots for social and business purposes

Where they have to compete as a proper coffeeshop, they fail miserably (Israel) or struggle big time (Australia)

They failed miserably in Israel. Opened recently in Italy and cater almost exclusively to tourists. The only place with good coffee where they are doing okayish that I'm aware of is Sweden. They also do rather well in Turkey among hipsters, tourists and rich local college kids. Yet, it's limited to Istanbul

My former startup, wprapido.com . I had a previous YN username where I forgot the password. Applied to YCombinator and needed a username. Stayed with it. Sold the underlying tech behind WPRapido, but retained its identity (domain, many usernames all over, etc.) and even had a Ltd. company that I used for it till like 6 months ago

Well, I'm European, so not sure if it helps, but might help someone else. TransferWise is what I'd highly recommend. They do have US presence. I'm just not sure which features are available to US customers. They got excellent customer service via mail, chat, social media and phone. Not outsourced to India
