Correct. All of our food contains parasites, pathogens, and deadly chemicals, even those we eat the most like pork, salmon and cassava. The difference is that we learned how to deal with those risks. Literally water can be fatal sometimes, this issue is not specific to bugs.
The study at hand specifically mentions that further research is required in order to reach the same level of safety for bugs as well.
I don’t think there’s an exact correlation between safety and “what we eat,” which is rather more a consequence of availability and customs. Lots of countries don’t eat horse meat or snakes. Neither one is particularly unsafe.

I fail to see what part of the story so far changes the ethics of this. Not having privacy is still not great, even if there's little expectation of it where he lives.

I think seeing a bug feast on feces and then having it sneak up on your food stashes might trigger an obvious reaction (similar to pigs and the reason why some don't eat them)

I could say the same about Passwords. I'm happy that they * finally * got passwords out of that relic called Keychain Access and into the System Preferences, but they could do even more.

I had some issues with my iCloud "Hide my email" once too when trying to contact support. Either they weren't getting my emails or they were purposefully ignoring my refund requests until I contacted my card company. It is an extra step to worry about, but if your setup is good enough (e.g. use iCloud and use Mail.app), then it's probably going to be easier.
Most of your points are also about price. You could subscribe to all of them and also buy all the stuff even from outside market if you had money. I bet that’s still more convenient than hoping to find your whole series in decent quality right now.

Gotta thank Zoom for supplying a new excuse to not install Zoom on my Mac. I’ve been using it from iOS every time I had to and then deleting it afterwards.

Encrypted but they have the keys so they can serve it to anyone who asks. That’s why “end-to-end” is subsequently mentioned as an “additional” step for certain data. It should all be end-to-end like iCloud Keychain is, at least on demand.
I’d much rather seen a system-wide “container” implementation a-la-Firefox instead. Safari is pretty good at this but not as good as Firefox. I really want my real-life accounts be segregated from the rest of the internet. Reddit should never be able to know what other sites I use.
GP a was referring to a specific “web view” implementation that offers an almost-complete browser implementation and security on iOS. Facebook does not use this but a regular WebView
It’s really painful to see all of these encryption holes in every product we use daily. Apple claims privacy, yet your whole phone sits unencrypted on their server ready to be served to anyone who asks (assuming you back up your phone to iCloud)
That was a great update, but still not a true browser. No tabs, no bookmarks. Why should the website be restricted to one tab? Just open Safari and be done with it.
Please tell every newspaper to publish this so Apple puts a stop to this. I have no idea why they allow this. All apps should use Safari unless they’re a browser and this rated “18+”

So, here's the problem, I don't care. I left the company. I cannot access the account anymore. The project is dead. There are a million reasons why I just don't want your emails so there's no excuse to not add an unsubscribe link.
The only messages that don't have to include such link are those that if missed/ignored lead to fees, fines, death, imprisonment and other real-life consequences.
An update to your privacy policy does not fall into that category.
Yeah, anyone can think of their emails as "relationship message". The point is that I don't want your relationship emails either, especially if I'm no longer actually using the service.
The problem is that this is junk messaging that no one reads nor needs.
It’s not. Providing an unsubscribe link is one of the main points of the act. On Wikipedia is the first point listed.
That does not sound practical nor necessary. An authentication should be required to disable a service, but is never necessary to stop notifications.
In my view there’s only one thing to do when emails don’t contain an unsubscribe link: report spam — because it is, as described by CAN-SPAM.
