It would make sense back then when browser security was potatoes. Today, even firefox made it hard to disable Javascript. In fact, our startup website doesn't even load unless you have Javascript enabled.
Also, it's not sub 2% today, it's more like sub 0.01%.
YC has been undergoing some real good changes and new features ever since Sam came in.
$190M in valuation after the second try. Trick is to focus on product dev and then once you reach PMF, just spend on S&M.
It's not about being first. It's about being the last.
there's an extended version if you have a kindle
I was about to write a list of feedback, but there was so much that I don't like that I couldn't continue. My best advice is either you make the site faster, or consider using more javascript (i.e why do I need to load a whole bloat of HTML and rerun all the same javascript when I click "see more" on the funding rounds ?)
Probably has to do something with google maps elevation value for those coordinates. https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/...
Pocket is limiting me on articles only.. (psychologically). I always wanted an app where I can save my links, for say images on the web, or videos with a description of the timestamp I have reached at. Maybe I want to keep bookmarks for later, but it's not worthy for it to be in my bookmarks bar in my browser and it's not an article (say at top 20 list to submit your startup written by a YC user).
Exactly what I hate about pocket is fixed here
I got rejected last year for the first time, decided to apply again on the next batch: got refused again. After that we decided not to apply to this batch, and here we are about to close our A round at an above average YC valuation gets at their A round after just 1 year since being founded..
We just followed what PG writes in his essays when in doubt.
all he had to implement http://css-tricks.com/snippets/jquery/horz-scroll-with-mouse...
also, if you hold down shift and scroll it should scroll horizontal
these 2048 variations gotta stop pumping in the frontpage

If you speak Backbone JS, Node JS, Python, MongoDB: we want you.
If you love or hate travel, you're still going to crack some code with us regardless. Looking for programers with a giant beard or someone who knows when to share the right gif at the right time in team chat.
Or you know, make the front-end layer open source s owe can send in PR
I would wait until I actually try the product instead of calling quits. And jQuery/Backbone is not an infested nightmare MVC. It's beautiful modular javascript.
that fact that you can login/logout with super+shift+p and load the settings instantly to change between workflows or to do some quick changes on your friends laptop
Does it support /#!/ (hashbangs) or just pushState ?
If I'm working I would be in 11-30 or even 61-100. But since it's "right now", I'll go with choice A, less than 10
nprogress is still better since you don't need to define a %. Instead it slowly advances automatically until you call .done()
You should have array caching for the responses coded!
A 3$/month server can serve hacker news traffic fine (~100 realtime visitors). They usually sell with unlimited bandwidth..
had to make my chrome window smaller to make it work. Seems some floating problems (they needed to test with bigger screens ?)
You could of said a tl;dr version that .org is for organization and .com is for commercial.
I'm guessing 30%+ for an early stage company. (Usually investors out of the valley would take that much in it's first round)
Does that also apply to angel/pre-seed/seed funded teams ?
This only returns the city name along with the latLng for it. You probably live close to the center of the city (or downtown)
we're doing some CRUD and a lot of crawling and scraping at Outpost (http://outposttravel.com). I don't think CRUD days are numbered just yet - all you need is a problem to fix.
The biggest mistake you can make is to find someone as passionate about your idea and making sure he stays on the top. Become CEO yourself, it's not hard and you don't need to know "business".
Ideally we want to take a small fee per transaction we send to affiliates and not from the user (so the user always pays what he's offered)
