If I ever find myself with the money to do this, that was exactly what I was thinking.

I’d love to do something similar to an El Camino. I don’t even need triple digit range; I’d use it as a local runabout, mostly to my art studio.

I got laid off a while ago and I’m privileged enough to take time to reconsider what I want to do. I’ve been learning how to sketch which supports my bigger passion- printmaking. I’ve primarily been doing linocut which is carving negative space into linoleum, inking it up, and printing it on paper. I’ve got a membership at a local atelier and have branched out into drypoint, kitchen lithography, and what I guess is called LEGOpress. I’m sparking a lot of joy working with my hands every day. I have been finding adequate challenge in honing my craft as I try to figure out how to draw/carve the images I see in my mind.

Instagram is the same way if a link is dropped into the comments. Infuriating.

Any docs or talks about this somewhere?

If you're using Apache you could just use Server Side Includes and forget the JS.

Maybe it displays oddly on your phone but all I’ve seen is effusive praise for how the landing page is constructed. The graphic is meaningless but the information around it is informative. The graphic itself is meant to inspire rather than inform.

I recall using cartoon logic to think that the web might be stretchy or bouncy. I’m way from my desk right now so I can’t easily consult the doc, but I recall Manny’s observations filling in whatever else I needed to do to solve the puzzle.

The only puzzle that stumped me was much later in the game, when a pneumatic tube demon asked me questions about Maximino where the answer was a number. I was so used to gleaning info from conversations or Manny’s quips that I didn’t realize the demon was using some bingo number picker or something in the background.

Perhaps I’m biased because I played the game when I was 14 and had much more free time to dedicate to it, but it’s my impression that Grim Fandango was known for having few of the rubber-chicken-with-a-pulley-in-it type of puzzles.

As for your question about “what is the player being challenged to do?” I had to sit and think for a bit. I think the most straightforward answer is to just think abstractly and make connections in the context of a humorous noir story. You certainly aren’t being challenged to solve a mystery, but I’m not sure it really matters. I’m not sure if you mean it like Chess challenges you to vanquish your opponent and The Witness demands color/pattern/maze analysis.

I’d take this comment more seriously if there weren’t car companies that bought up rail networks and shut them down.

Is there a repo or list of single HTML files like this? I’ve seen people mention Tiddlywiki but that’s it so far.

It's a good first draft. I do find it a shame that the HTML output is only div elements. I think a little accessibility would go a long way. I also can't select text in many places before some re-render de-selects before I can hit control-c.

It’s a film noir coded game. It does nail that dark aspect in many scenes and does it masterfully. I recently replayed it and it was remarkable how great it still is after decades of gameplay evolution.

I hope something like this gets figured out for the Affinity Suite. Since I game on a Steam Deck now, the only thing holding me back from having Linux do everything I need is those three programs. Yes I know Gimp, Inkscape, and Krita exist. I just think Affinity does it better.

They technically form the same shape, but orientation matters. Triangles pointing up are major, those pointing down are minor. Minor and major chords from the same base note, C in this case, will have both major and minor tonalities clashing.

I just don't see it. With the exception of children's cartoons/shows, there's just always been political stuff. Any USA show with a black family dealt with racism, and if they were wealthy, not being 'black enough'. Poor families like in Roseanne were dealing with layoffs and hoping that the trickle down effect of Reaganomics would kick in any day now.

Looney tunes, Animaniacs, some SNL skits, Blue's Clues- these all had that lack of present day political stuff, but even something as light as The Drew Carey Show had themes about stuff like political correctness in the office place, and cross-dressing/genderqueer folks.

I think that if you think those tropes are just tropes and not intentional political messaging, then there is no longer any point in discussion with your level of reading comprehension.
