True freedom cannot exist in the modern world. You are almost always indebted to a loan or a company or your tax man or your government. If you are telling yourself anything else, you are lying to yourself.

Hardware is the easy part. Setting up and running the software stacks. Uptimes, etc are tricky.

I think there is a business case for a small app where you could input the url of your function and have it called every ‘x’ seconds or minutes to keep the function warm.

Would anyone here use it? I can put together a small app in a few days.

FoundationDB had everything (launched or work in progress). SQL that was fast like NoSQL, No single point of failure, Scaling, Search, etc, etc... all built into one database. It was designed to remove the pain of managing many different components. For example, handling 'search' separately (via solr/lucene/cloudsearch) is a pain.

FoundationDB could really have been a big big thing had they not burnt bridges with their initial user set (i was one of them). It was a really cool database.

I was remarking on the old version which was flash based.

Always loved these memes and wondered where these came from. I must commend the original and present makers for doing this. Yet at the same time i must remark on the frailty of the software (flash in this case) we use that makes many things obsolete in just a few years.
