I'm not sure if your higher error rate is sticky per user or something, but I've tried 10+ times throughout the day and have had 0 successes. They all come back as internal server error. That's why I eventually posted.

These are two different products. It's like SpaceX launching satellites for competitive satellite internet services. They didn't care that they were providing launch capabilities for a competitor and neither should Anthropic. What if Apple stopped allowing you to use an iPhone if you worked at Google?

Can someone find more about why GEICO did this? It makes no sense. Furthermore, they could just increase rates if they found accidents too common.

Also, there are much less safe cars out there for pedestrians such as the Hummer EV (complete behemoth) or Rivian (weighs more than CT and has significantly higher frontal profile which is shown to be the largest contributor to pedestrian safety above basically anything else). If it's about breakdowns, that money comes from Tesla's wallet so would make no sense. Even so, I see Cybertrucks driving daily and haven't seen a broken down one yet.

Look at the weight of some cars for comparison. I'm surprised this isn't more common. The only difference between a heat pump and standard air conditioner is a reversing valve. These are usually $50-$100, and just require one more wire to the thermostat. In colder weather, defrost and fancier controllers are needed, but for mild climates the reversing valve is really all that is needed.

Yes there are some. Eg: Acura MDX. It uses the mobileye chipset and can barely make a highway turn. The car is good otherwise, but it in no way compares to the Tesla ADAS (I have daily driven both). The Tesla has done several trips to LA and back with >1hr between touches on California i5. my commute on bay area 280 feels far more natural on Autopilot when cars cut me off etc. I think performance depends significantly on what roads people drive.

I think this also shows how inefficient modern website hosting is. The fact that this person was able to get a raspberry pi to host the #1 website on HN powered by a small 50 watt solar panel is very cool (meaning maybe 10w average power budget), but also shouldn't be as uncommon as it is today. To put this in perspective, a modern server uses 50-100 watts idle doing nothing, and many more under load. To handle the top of HN, the developer probably would use load balancing and other tech, multiplying the power usage accordingly. Edit: fixing typos.

The problem with that argument is that the greater efficiency will just drive for harder difficulty, and thus require more hashing per payout. Ultimately the power consumption will always regress to the total payout divided by the average electricity price no matter the efficiency of the miners. Some different non-mined altcoins don't have as much of this issue and I wish they were more popular/more people tried to figure out how to make them work better since they still seem to be in their infancy due to the other attacks they are vulnerable to.

I found it interesting also to look at kwh per transaction. Several places claim that in early 2020 bitcoin used ~700kwh per transaction (https://www.statista.com/statistics/881541/bitcoin-energy-co...), and this equates to about 2700 miles of driving a Tesla Model 3 at the rated consumption of 257wh/mi which is plain a ton (and also is about 1 month of solar production from my house's rooftop solar). With Tesla now accepting bitcoin, this means you can add ~2.7k miles of emissions to the car without even driving it, and probably even more since they have to move the money afterwards. Edit: Don't forget about ewaste also. Some quick math and assuming a 2 year lifetime says that each miner can contribute 10-20 transactions. This is why I think proof of stake is a better way to go.
