That’s like saying I don’t see why anyone would spend cash when they could buy index funds instead (if you believe index funds will only go up).

Wasting years of your life locked up is already disincentive enough. Exploitive forced/hard/hazardous labor isn’t necessary.
Same with being unable to afford common necessities, or being raped in prison.
These just make the experience for prisoners inhumane and miserable.
So if you eat less, your body eventually adjusts so that you're satiated earlier. People say that your "stomach shrinks" when you eat less, but it's really just your appetite that does.
When you eat a meal you should also try eating slower, or having more frequent but smaller portions. Have you ever noticed that you're still hungry after a meal, but after a few minutes it goes away? That's because it takes ~20 minutes for you to feel full after eating.
There's also appetite suppressants (both naturally found in certain foods + prescription drugs), that can work wonders for weight loss.
Also, if you ever try fasting, usually your appetite is strongest for the first 2 days, then falls off. With natural fat stores + an intake of water/electrolytes/potassium/magnesium, you can fast for many days at a time without feeling hungry.
Getting to level 99 or playing hardcore mode isn’t the objective for 99+% of players.
Diablo 2 is a fairly forgiving and moderately casual game imo. Most builds require only one skill for damage, and respeccing and how easy it is to get a character rushed means it’s easy to experiment or fix builds.

Which is why I mentioned those three in particular, pretty easy to get everyone to use one.
WhatsApp, Messenger, or even Instagram are all potential alternatives. All from the Facebook family.
The recently popular Lost Ark is another video game by Korea.
I'm surprised you've never heard of the kpop groups BTS or Blackpink in Germany.
Nope, don't think any commercial version has that rule. Seems like a house rule or a misunderstanding of the official ruleset.
Yes. Bitcoin can be validated with with regular hardware, thus full nodes are cheap and ubiquitous and results in a system that's highly decentralized. Even if a 51% were to hypothetically happen with miners, the full nodes will stop it.
Ethereum and many others with massive blocks cannot be validated with regular hardware as there's too much computational power/storage involved. The majority of Ethereum nodes are by 3rd party services which use cloud services such as AWS. Additionally, essential services such as Infura which the majority of apps rely on are basically entirely centralized.
If every country refused to trade with Russia, would it become one of the poorest countries in the world?
If the lightning network isn’t possible, why is it up and running with thousands of people using it?
“if someone offer/ you a seat on a rocket ship, don’t ask which seat”
That analogy only makes sense if he offered you equity, haha.
It's not like people don't know, it's more like there's not much we can do about it (other than voting).
It's up to governments to come up with and enforce laws that prevent corporations from releasing millions of metric tons of greenhouse gasses. Without strict laws in place, there's too little incentive from being moral or being long-term oriented, also your competition who don't will run you out of business with the extra profits.
There's also very few consumers willing to investigate/research the pollution generated from all companies related to making/delivering the products they buy. So being "greener" isn't really much of an advantage.
Would it? We could have hundreds of runaway-meltdown proof nuclear fission reactors now if we wanted.
I'm surprised that message irked you that much, doesn't sound that bad to me. Almost sounds sincere, rather than sarcastic.
TikTok has plenty of misinformation, Twitter too.
I don't use the main Facebook app much, but I use Instagram and Messenger daily, Whatsapp sometimes as well.
What do you use for your friend group chats?
That's why I said, unless you were already a senior engineer (L5), which isn't really a viable 3 year plan for most people.
You can live cheaper than 3.5k, sure, but that's a fairly typical amount for a single person living near FAANG office locations, if you consider rent/utilities/food/transportation/clothes/equipment expenses/entertainment.
Btw, 400k is 225k in take home, minus aforementioned living expenses is 183k. Even if you were able to get to L6 within 2 years, that's 600k the last year, 320k take home, 278k minus living expenses.
183+183+278 = 644k so you would basically need to be lucky and have 26% stock appreciation every year, which is a lot higher than the norm.
It depends what you mean by a lot.
It's a lot, but is it rich (in the US)? No.
According to several surveys held in the US, around $2.5M was what most considered enough to be considered wealthy. However, with recent inflation, that figure has probably increased.
Btw the minimum amount needed to be included in the top 1% of household net worth in the US is $11,099,166.
I don't think it would be close at all, unless you were already a senior engineer (and even then would require amazing stock appreciation). Also, the jump between levels at top companies/FAANG is around 50%, not 100%.
• Junior engineer at FAANG, yr 1 = 180k ~113k take home - 42k living expenses (based off of 3.5k per month) = 71k to invest
• Yr 2 = 71k to invest
• Midlevel engineer, yr 3 = 270k ~160k take home - 42k living expenses = 118k to invest
With 10% stock appreciation per year that's roughly 78k end of 1st year, 164k 2nd year, and 310k by 3rd year.
Hasn't he already been ordered to pay $100M in damages? https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2021/12/06/craig-wright-fou...
Why is this guy still scamming? Did he not learn his lesson?
Yup, don’t regret spending 2 months for a $250k raise one bit.
The vast majority of tech companies including startups are asking algorithm style questions these days. It’s adapt or die.
Yup, would much rather do a 30 minute phone screen than a "2 hour" take home (usually more like 4 hours with all the requirements needed for the project, unless you already have a decent framework you're working off of).
Yes, I accepted the FB offer.
It was 2019, so things may have changed but I doubt it. Maybe I was lucky? Or maybe you were unlucky. I also applied as a Senior SWE (mobile) if that makes any difference.
Out of the 12 companies I applied for I was given 2 hards (both were private startups), the rest were all mediums.
nearly 100 lines of code involving multiple steps
I was never given anything even close to involving a 100 line solution. Are you sure this was even the correct/optimal solution? Either that or you're very unlucky. Which companies were asking such questions?
50 medium problems could span all of the possible topics.
I was given problems that I hadn't encountered before, but I was able to solve them by deduction/critical thinking and applying the appropriate algorithms/patterns. Often the easy solution and the optimal solution weren't even that different, and just involved using a hashtable.
Grinding through hundreds of LC to try and memorize/familiarize yourself with the solutions really isn't the right method. Have you read Cracking the Coding Interview? Gayle McDowell has some videos on youtube in which she explains her process.
Yeah, I practiced leetcode by spending about an hour a day for 2 months, but I had only done around 60 LC total (25 medium, 35 easy).
I didn't feel a need to do much more as they had very similar patterns. I did attempt the ones I had solved more than once though, but it was to really drill in the principles behind the problem rather than to try and "memorize" them.
Prior to my prep, I had almost 0 algorithm experience. I got an offer from every FAANG I applied for.
I almost always start my product searches by googling the term and then adding "reddit" nowadays.
The model 3 and y are on that list as well, and are closer to $50k.
The model 3 and y is on that top 10 list as well, and they're not quite luxury goods.
