I think about this book ALL the time. It was way more terrifying than calming to me. But still absolutely love it / haunted by it.
Love this book. I did a short interview with the author Brian Dear about his writing tools + process a while back. Perhaps my favorite anecdote is that he started working on this book in 1985, using MSDOS and later a NeXT cube for his notes. The authorial process truly experienced the full gamut of personal storage mediums over the years.

Nope, definitely not. Seems like a side-effect of that Github Action. Haven't seen it before. I manually re-rotated and then purged the cloudflare cache. So I think they should be normal again. Thank you for the ping!
Author here. I'll take this comment charitably, because it did lead me to discover that I merged the PR well before my Github action to compress images completed. Just re-ran it, and the images are all ~50% reduced in size now: https://github.com/whatrocks/blag/pull/22

Ah, I'm sorry to hear about this issue. I have not encountered it myself nor have I heard about others facing it before. Do you have any suggestions on what I might need to adjust in Cloudflare settings? My SSL/TLS settings have not changed in a very long time. Thanks!
Yeah! I felt squishy about the asteroid size, too. I really just wanted to say “Dodge Durango-sized” TBH, but was definitely concerned it was too small. Another good catch / call-out! Thanks.

I was definitely stabbing into the dark with (and self-conscious about) the "distance" - how to make it close enough for curiosity but not outright danger.
Some of the laser + vacuum chunking details I was hopefully going to toss up to the somewhat unreliable (at least not fully informed) narrator, which I was definitely using as a crutch for not having better science details.
This is also part of a "write a short story every week for a year" project, so my research was definitely too limited. But maybe now I'll revisit it in 2023 with your suggestions. Thanks again!

Great points. My mic literally dropped during the recording (I was sitting in my bed). I'll try to fix that now and re-upload it (up to this point, the only regular listeners have been my parents and occasionally my wife). Also, excellent call on the problem/game part of the story - I should rewrite that part. I've also been thinking about this story as the backstory to an iPhone game, so maybe I can make it more fun that way.
