Sorry all - was an issue with Sendgrid, but we have it fixed now.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah we have plans to add "nearby conversations" in larger rooms, built around furniture. So walking over to a couch in the room would start a nearby conversation that wouldn't disturb the rest of the room.

The big win Balanced has over Stripe is the ability to use their payouts API independently of whether you're using them to collect credit card and ACH debits or not. So you could be charging cards through Stripe and paying out via Balanced. Stripe forces you to charge cards through them in order to do any payouts.

It's true Stripe is integrated with more shopping carts and invoicing systems, but Balanced will get there. Personally, it would be great to see a Balanced credit card and ACH FreshBooks/Harvest integration because we're moving more into invoicing, as we're now dealing with larger companies and larger payments.

Including aspect ratio as a column would be helpful, so we don't have to calculate width / height in our heads.

We already have some emblem code in production :)

I wish we had better food trucks up here in Seattle. Mostly greasy Mexican food and hotdogs. Portland is the King of food trucks in the NW and I wish they would come up here more often. Fresh oysters, mean pork sandwiches, etc.

At the time, Stripe was the easiest and best solution for us. Our product wasn't as mature as it is now and automated developer payments weren't high on our list (as we were much smaller). But 18 months later, companies like BancBox and Balanced launched into the mix and were a much better fit for us.

She gave herself that title, and rocks it :). Her not-so-fancy title is Account Manager.

I agree you shouldn't do fixed priced contracts for larger, long-term projects. But a fixed price for a 1-week long project seems to work out pretty well. That's why we developed the 1 week long sprint payouts.

Yeah you still have to apply if you were an existing TinyProj user.

Yeah, currently we look at publicly accessible work a developer has done. Agreed that front-end and design heavy work shows much better in a portfolio (and is usually an easier sell for the project owner) but we're working on ways to bubble back-end work to the top so it shows nicely. We get a number of back-end only type projects come through, so definitely still request an invite.

Open source contributions is one of many things we look at to decide acceptance. You don't need to have any open source contributions but it does help us gauge you as a developer. It mostly comes down to what you've built in the past (open source or not).

Back in '08 there were around 21 teams, now I believe there are around 60 teams.

Back in YC S'08 pitches were between 5-6m. Now with so many teams I believe they're around 2m.
