There have been very few games that gave me this flash-like sensation of breathtaking wonderment at the vastness of their world. Ultima Online, Planetside 2 and Star citizen come to mind.

I caved in to curiosity and got SC maybe 2 years ago.

I’d login in every 3, then every 6 months or so for 1-2 fly-throughs. Fly-through is when I get into a ship, take a mission or two, get to some planet. Maybe I crash maybe I complete a mission, maybe I succumb to the bugs. Anyhow I keep flying till I’m dead. Then I log out. The whole endeavor takes 2 hours at the longest, so I set some time aside for this. I don’t watch any tutorials or guides, just figure things out by myself, or, don’t, and leave them for the next flythrough.

I certainly got my money’s worth of entertainment from these few fly-throughs.

There are certainly deeper games out there, or even bigger in terms of playable area. Still, I think, if we put the games on a “immersive experience” chart where Y is visual effects and X is scale, then Star Citizen will be in the top right.

Is it possible to retrofit it into the existing open source keyboard ?

I was always wondering where that breaking point for cost/peformance is for displays. I use 4K 27” and it’s noticeably much better for text than 1440p@27 but no idea if the next/ and final stop is 6k or 8k?

Same exact experience. I never expected to depleted a weekly quota when not working every day of the week.

$200 plan and VERY tame usage (not 24/7, not every day even, maybe 8-10 hours for ~4 days). Suddenly I am at 96% weekly (!) limit, multiple session limits, two daily limits.

Either they decimated the limits internally, or they broke something.

Tried all the third-party tricks (headroom, etc.), switched to 200k context window, switched back to 4.5.

I hope 4.5 will help, but the rest of the efforts didn’t move the needle much

Not sure about funny, but the schadenfreude from spoiling a plot like this may come from spoilers seeing themselves as being “other” or feeling excluded from a group where the fascination with the media (Harry Potter fans) is the common trait. You may not want to be a Harry Potter fan, but seeing people obsessed with it and gathering around it may make you feel isolated

this is pretty much how things will unfold in USA. Everything that has to happen will happen but very slowly. There is all the evidence supporting that.

sorry but this is such a coping mechanism, or doomsday talking. Neither is dollar collapsing nor US government is collapsing, as there has been no evidence whatsoever of any of that even moving towards happening, at least on any meaningfully predictable timescale (i.e. 3-5 years? while even that's rich for predictions). Anything past that is just broken clock being correct.. at some point in time.

What would it take for dollar to "collapse"? What are the exact mechanisms that would be required to start that process?

What is the evidence of US government being "toppled" with layers and layers and layers of diverse (financial, legal, military, political, social, you name it) protections in place? It's the kind of thing preppers like to dream of but it's not happpening in our lifetimes.

When things of that scale happen you see it YEARS in advance in true poverty (as in people starving), in anger (as in people getting increasingly violent) at scale, in mass mobilization of masses actually looking to topple the government. Nobody is working right now to overthrow US government, there were never any organized attempts at that, not even demonstrations of a vector that can once lead there, as in it's simply not happening (sorry you can't in all seriousness put Jan 6 there as that was shocking for US political PR, but shockingly irrelevant for any country that has gone through real upheaval). US is extraordinarily rich even in it's poor version, everyone has everything to lose and nothing meaningful to gain from any "revolution".

yes, this really nails it. UO didn't chase "endgame content" which, imo, is the bane of today's multiplayer games. Designers expect everyone to max out and reach the end of the road so everyone is the same in the end.

it's not per-vault is it? I have multiple vaults I'd like to sync selectively (50% of files in one vault for one machine, and 100% on another etc.) No space restrictions?
